I have never read anything by Selma Lagerlöf before such a shame seeing she's one of Swedens most famous authors through history I found this old edition of her diary there seems there are two parts which I certainly plan on getting my hands on now early in January and randomly decided to pick it up Such a delight to read Although she was only 14 years old writing this you can tell she has a gift for capturing the beautiful and the magical in any life events The writing in itself reminds me of how beautiful Swedish language can be how much the language has changed over the past 100 or so years and how exuisite I find the old Swedish way of writing and talking to be I found myself travelling through time seeing the Sweden of 1870s a time of which I have little knowledge especially set in Sweden The diary was such a nice way of experiencing and learning about history in a way that was both fun and enlightening I really like the girl that wrote this diary and I hope I can hear her voice through the stories she later wrote that I look forward to experiencing this year
