This is a charming story about a black and white cat who visits a lovely home and lives for a while in the potting shed because the house owners already had two Burmese cats and these were extremely jealous of any intrudersDuring sunny days she would flirt with the flowers and butterflies and with her white paws it looked as though she was wearing ballet shoes so the house owners called her Dancer She took over the garden and when other cats called she made sure that she let them know that the garden and surrounds were her territoryThe only thing that defeated Dancer in her prancing round the garden was the bird table; she just could not climb the pole up to it or jump on the table itself and the birds were not intimidated by her attempts As she had to give up on that venture she turned her attention to the windowsill and she sat staring through the window as the two Burmese cats inside chased each other up and down the curtains She was then determined to get inside the houseEventually she made it while the owner put the two Burmese in a side room She loved every minute of being inside and when left alone played havoc with the flower arrangements that were around the room Having fully explored downstairs she went upstairs and with the wardrobe being open she playfully enjoyed herself in there Tired by her strenuous efforts she then retired to the bed where she relaxed on a familiar flower pattern uiltAutumn arrived and she began chasing leaves and then she was unfamiliar with the snow that fell in the winter With this in mind the house owner decided to let her inside once and very soon she and one of the Burmese were curled up together having a nap That was the turning point for Dancer she was then one of the family and Perdi and Solomon the Burmese took her to their hearts and Dancer soon became very much at home happy timesLesley Fotherby has written a lovely story and has enhanced it with some absolutely delightful illustrations

Stunning watercolour illustrations belie the fact that the author is an accomplished artist The story lets it down a bit Not that it's a bad story just a bit clumsy A black and white cat moves into the garden of an unnamed family house that is already occupied by two boisterous Burmese
