I am online acquaintances with this author and I had been planning on reading his first two novels when this one fell in my lap in the form of a proof copy.To say I devoured this genre defying novel is an understatement It is a bold novel with elements of science fiction, fantasy, mystery and others all in one I highly recommend it.

  2. Robert Jason Robert Jason says:

Intriguing and exciting, Black Throne Conspiracy begins with a Prologue which establishes the tone, begins the mystery, then presents the setting a combination of Old World and futuristic Think royalty, landed gentry, and a unique religious element, with advanced technology on another world The detail of presentation is impressive In the course of the book you learn some of its history, which includes cursed worlds and fallen civilizations, and get vibrant descriptions of city architectu Intriguing and exciting, Black Throne Conspiracy begins with a Prologue which establishes the tone, begins the mystery, then presents the setting a combination of Old World and futuristic Think royalty, landed gentry, and a unique religious element, with advanced technology on another world The detail of presentation is impressive In the course of the book you learn some of its history, which includes cursed worlds and fallen civilizations, and get vibrant descriptions of city architecture, noble estates, court clothing, religious rituals, transportation vehicles, and communication devices Details range from the fibers in an honor coat to the rules of inheritance The workings of the government and Concordance elections are explained I felt like I was reading about a place that actually exists In Chapter One Cobran is introduced a wounded warrior and a noble wounded in both body and spirit He needs something to take his mind off his recent past and he gets all he can handle, andHe s a likeable main character somewhat flawed but loaded with good intentions His sense of humor carries him through life threatening situations and a sense of honor makes him loyal to his family but also concerned about what is right Sometimes his common sense is sacrificed to his impetuosity, but he has an ability to juggle his own intrigues and those of others He is followed, shot, threatened, stabbed, imprisoned, blinded and attacked by dogs But he gives as good as he gets and continually comes up with creative solutions to his problems, some of which help, some definitely do not He s never afraid to act decisively, which can be good and bad He conducts his own deceptions in an attempt to uncover the deceptions of others Its a constant chess game of courtship, courtly intrigue and political manipulation The action revolves around him and the book moves quickly through his adventures Besides Cobran I had other favorite characters, notably his niece, Kestril, his secretary Ms Lendri, and Delmorgan and Brody, two soldiers from his disbanded unit, happy to aid their captain Cobran s conversations with the Milrath bodyguard, Obryth Kahl, are very entertaining The obvious villains are easy to dislike those involved with the dark evil are not always obvious There are plenty of twists right through to the end I reviewed an early copy of Black Throne Conspiracy as I had read the author s previous two books and liked them This novel has a completely different feel both the language and plot aresophisticated and the characterscomplex A variety of settings adds great interest and the fantastic descriptions are so clear and vivid that you easily visualize the whole scene The dialogue is effective at expanding the mystery or developing the characters and their relationships, and there are plenty of pithy comments that provide food for thought A magical aspect enhances the story but its the mystery and the non stop action that carries the book There are courtships that are business proposals and intelligence missions that turn into romance Cobran chooses the oddest times for romance Sometimes his humor breaks the tension, but lives are at stake while a dark evil attempts to prevail At the conclusion I wondered, what are my Dark Seven Anyone who likes a mystery and plenty of action will enjoy Black Throne Conspiracy I hope there isto come.Black Throne Conspiracy

Retired army hero Sir Cobran Deritha must save the Concordance from true evil and save the First Prince s family being held hostage by a terrorist sect Amidst all of the action there are arranged marriages, backroom alliances, business dealings, and a military hierarchy to tend to.If the world is technologically advanced enough to be able to fly between planets, why do they still use swords for fighting

  7. Katrina McCollough Katrina McCollough says:

The characters in this book are really well done There s a lot going on, but the author manages to minimize any confusion you might have with its strong central character Awesome read.
