    A terrific collection of dark and chilling writing, artwork, poetry and an interview with Hitchcock s last interviewer Along with the great fiction, prose, and poetry there s a bit about the theater, film and the first translated story by Polish supernatural writer Stefan Grabinski, that I ve seen The production quality is top notch and this magazine makes one pine after a new flowering of high quality, entertaining readable, hard copy periodicals Poe Forever

    In the Autumn of 2012 a new magazine was launched dedicated to all things Edgar Allan Poe The Premiere Issue of Poe Forever Tales of Mystery and Imagination arrived in our mailbox in early December after we decided to subscribe and give it a try We had read a few comments online about the magazine, which gave the magazine very high reviews Poe Forever concentrates on new original fiction by established and aspiring writers The stories may be horror, mystery, detective fiction, scien In the Autumn of 2012 a new magazine was launched dedicated to all things Edgar Allan Poe The Premiere Issue of Poe Forever Tales of Mystery and Imagination arrived in our mailbox in early December after we decided to subscribe and give it a try We had read a few comments online about the magazine, which gave the magazine very high reviews Poe Forever concentrates on new original fiction by established and aspiring writers The stories may be horror, mystery, detective fiction, science fiction, or any other genres, which are considered by the magazine editor Mark Redfield The stories do not necessarily have to have anything to do with Poe himself or his stories The magazine also accepts factual academic articles Within the brilliantly illustrated covers are well written articles about Poe and many masterfully crafted stories As a huge Sherlock Holmes fan, and the stories of Poe s detective Dupin, there are two Sherlock Holmes stories within the magazine that, in my own opinion, stand amongst the top non Doyle written Sherlock stories The first is The Comfort of the Seine, by Stephen Volk, which reveals the greatest of Poe s secret This story deals with a young Sherlock Holmes, no not like that 1985 film depiction, meeting with C Auguste Dupin Fans of the detective genre, Poe, Dupin and Holmes will not be let down This brilliant tale incorporate aspects of Poe s life, that of a young aspiring consulting detective and C Auguste Dupin I would rather you all read the story and commented here rather than me give anydetails away, as I was fully absorbed in the telling of this tale by its impressive detail and the ultimate twist toward the end The second Holmes related tale brings and older, established, Sherlock into a meeting with Oscar Wilde in The Case of the Green Carnation This tale excellently weaves the brilliant minds of Holmes and Wilde into a mysterious tapestry As an admirer of the fictional genius of Holmes and the real life brilliance of Wilde this tale certainly was a highly engaging mental treat, as was The Comfort of the Seine The Poe Forever Magazine is as an official Poe publication as fans could ever get It is edited and published by American actor and filmmaker Mark Redfield who is no stranger to Poe as he has been involved in numerous Poe related projects In addition Jeff Jerome, the Curator of The Poe House and Museum in Balti is aboard the magazine staff as well Both of these illustrious gentlemen are the creators of The Raven Society of Balti, Inc, which finds its home at the Balti Poe House and Museum By subscribing to Poe Forever you are also assisting in donations to The Poe House and Museum as a portion of the proceeds, if any and at the publishers discretion goes in this direction
