I quite often find myself picking up kids Titanic related fiction, as I enjoy anything to do with the Titanic and it seems quite a common child s adventure time travel story It also gives kids a little history lesson at the same time, and this one can definitely be read as a parent to a child, or as a child starting out reading This has two very likeable characters Chip, a 10 year old girl and her younger brother Skip, who is 7 So this will appeal to both boys and girls They both look muc I quite often find myself picking up kids Titanic related fiction, as I enjoy anything to do with the Titanic and it seems quite a common child s adventure time travel story It also gives kids a little history lesson at the same time, and this one can definitely be read as a parent to a child, or as a child starting out reading This has two very likeable characters Chip, a 10 year old girl and her younger brother Skip, who is 7 So this will appeal to both boys and girls They both look much older in the illustrations, I felt, than 7 and 10 it s quite clearly a series of time travel adventure stories for children, as the ending of this book seems to suggest, but I doubt I will pick up any of these, as I really only bought this for the Titanic aspect The time travel is activated by a pair of glasses with little dials on the sides, which I presume will take the kids on different adventures, in different periods of time, in different books This is written by S and E Collins and also is illustrated by a P Collins, so clearly a family book There were a couple of things that annoyed me about this the text seemed very much still wet fresh out the printer, as it still had a glossy appearance to it But it wasn t just very strange And the dedication chapter headings are written in Comic Sans The illustrations were definitely my main bugbear throughout the whole 90 pages of book They seemed very much different styles It seemed to be very different levels of ability, with not much attention paid to age of Chip and Skip, and at least some of the illustrations, I felt like it was someone who was not confident with faces, as some were shown from behind far away And then a later illustration shows Chip s face Overall, this is a great book for kids, if you can overlook the things that bugged me And if you find anything Titanic related intriguing like me, this may be a good start to getting your kids interested as well
