I really liked books 1 thru 4 but book was disappointing in that it had too many things going on and seemed to have a disjointed and hurried ending Also, it gets a bit tiring with all the robot battles and simulated training I will read book 6 in hopes that the story line getsinteresting otherwise I can t imagine slugging thru to book 14

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers To view it, click here Yeah so that happenedHere s the basic spoiler free rundown I would say it hasof a 3.5 rather than 4 stars because it felt like it ran a little short and with so many storylines going on, character development and intrigue got lost and left me simply confused For example I was interested in the place Imanol went for his mission and feltcould have been explored there and there could have beendevelopment for Siobhan in her plotline, I would have liked to see her talk to her en Yeah so that happenedHere s the basic spoiler free rundown I would say it hasof a 3.5 rather than 4 stars because it felt like it ran a little short and with so many storylines going on, character development and intrigue got lost and left me simply confused For example I was interested in the place Imanol went for his mission and feltcould have been explored there and there could have beendevelopment for Siobhan in her plotline, I would have liked to see her talk to her enemy or something. The ending certainly left me hanging, but I liked it Is this the end Is there going to be any Who knows only the author SPOILERS AHEAD My thoughts on the characters Telisa Needs an eye patch like a pirate Then PIT can stand for Pirate Interstellar Travels.Shiny What the heck, man Caden BlechCilreth She s fine.Imanol I like him I don t care if he s supposed to be a jerk.Siobhan Good unless she was around or thinking about Caden.Maxsym Who are you Krellis He was mentioned in one chapter By far the most intricate and developed character of whom will become a fictional icon alongside Atticus Finch and Macbeth.Cilreth2 She got awesome when during her encounter with Nell when she decided she was Uma Thurman from Kill Bill.Telisa3 Wait.Caden2 What Imanol2 But how did But why Siobhan2 WHAT IS GOING ON Magnus4 IT S A MADHOUSE, A MADHOUSE Jason Yang Welcome to the club, Token AsianThoughts on relationships Cilreth and Cilreth2 Brings up some interesting ethical questions Is it incest or because they are the same person masturbation If masturbation, is it legal for identical twins to have sex because genetically, they are the same person Does the author just really like the idea of two identical women making out Caden and Siobhan About as awkward as Johnny and Lisa s relationship in Tommy Wisaeu s the Room It s out of nowhere, it doesn t need to be there and I don t like it There is no universe in which those two make sense together because A Caden is annoying and B Caden is super annoying I dislike Siobhan becomes a shy flirtatious schoolgirl around him when I thought she was supposed to be a daredevil Maybe she s tries to come off as a daredevil because on the inside she s terrified but no Also, where the hell did this relationship come from and why We see them together in one chapter, they think about each other and then for the rest of the book it is never mentioned.Telisa and Magnus4 This, if the story continues, is going to be interesting Telisa will have to come to the realisation that her Magnus, the one she loved, is dead and gone even if he has a clone It s like dating the twin of someone you loved who died save the fact he shares the original Magnus memories but a computer can just as equally have his memories and it s still not him I don t know if the author just intends to keep them together and act like it used to be, or if Telisa will come to understand that she cannot replace the original with a replica I d be interested in seeing how it is handled, that s a plotline in its own.Thoughts on plot A bit shambled and too short, but I did really enjoy the ending and the build up to it The ending makes it so that this could be a really depressing ending to a series or an exciting anxiety inducing cliff hanger for the next book I don t know where the story would go, but I d sure like to find out.In the end I do not think this book is on the same level as the previous ones, but it is great setup for another book with its ending I d like to readof these books, but I also understand if it ends here The ending may not satisfy all, but I love movies like Terry Gilliam s Brazil so, you know, I m used to weird twisted endings

I have loved the series so far, but I feel a bit let down The characters aren t as likable or relatable as they were in the first 2 or 3 books, and the ending seems unresolved, depressing, and destructive to the overall story In the first few books, Telisa is a scientist, interested in discovery, forced to strengthen and arm herself by the danger of explorationbut by this point she seems to have lost all that For some reason, her crusade to save the world felt wrong the Trilisks were not I have loved the series so far, but I feel a bit let down The characters aren t as likable or relatable as they were in the first 2 or 3 books, and the ending seems unresolved, depressing, and destructive to the overall story In the first few books, Telisa is a scientist, interested in discovery, forced to strengthen and arm herself by the danger of explorationbut by this point she seems to have lost all that For some reason, her crusade to save the world felt wrong the Trilisks were not consistent with what we have seen so far, and even if that is planned as an additional plot twist, the characters should have been sharp enough to notice it They almost seemed to switch places, with suddenly all powerful heroes hunting down the suddenly weak Trilisks before losing it all because they were so short sided which is not trait that fits the characters we have gotten to know so far I would say that the series has fallen victim to classic spectacle creep every book has to be bigger, twist harder, and overcome , but in this case that really wasn t necessary Survival and curiosity alone would have done a much better job of driving the story It is not a particularly bad book, but I felt disappointed

Too many copiesI have enjoyed this series up till now The multiple copies of protagonists is driving me crazy Perhaps ahuman reaction from them would help I do like the author s imagination and ability to offer details about aliens and dreamed up technology.

  8. Chris Devine Chris Devine says:

Short and hurried I got the impression that the author has tried to wrap this series up with the least number of words Too much happened with not enough explanation Disappointing end to a good series although Telisa is back in a new series I believe.
