This is my second book by Gemma Brocato and I enjoyed it just as much as the first Like the first in this series the romance in this story was sweet and sexy Clay was a fantastic hero with a delightful mix of strong alpha male and underlying vulnerability Pippa's character is one I'm sure many single moms can identify with and Gemma did an awesome job of demonstrating the struggles they face What I enjoyed even though was the overall subject matter Gemma brilliantly showed the struggles of those those tied with our armed forces both those on the front line and those waiting for loved ones to return home It was absolutely beautiful

Hearts in Harmony is the second book in the Five Senses series I really liked it A lot The story is captivating and the characters are strong and well definedClay Mathers is a military consultant for the government and a writer in his free time and Pippa Sanders is a therapist and a single mother of twins The moment they meet sparks flyClay doesn’t do subtle and Pippa doesn’t like his attitude What they can’t deny is the mutual attraction they feel for each otherI really appreciated the fact that the author didn’t focused on the physical aspect Yes she mentioned how attractive and well built he is but that was just a part of his description and necessary for the scene Instead she focused on the interactions between the characters and their personalities The lack of useless details was also very much appreciated I hate it when I have to dig my way out through details like what they’re drinking what they’re wearing what type of car they’re driving and so on just to get to the storyThe supportive characters are the same ones that we met in the first book Cooking Up Love maybe a few but not so many as to create confusion or add useless drama to the storyThe writing style is good and some of the dialogues are really funny Clay is an expert at putting his foot in his mouth especially around PippaAll in all Hearts In Harmony is a really great novel and I recommend it You can read this as a standalone but I think it's better if you start with the first volume It’ll be easier to understand everything that’s happening and it’s really worth reading45 starsHappy Reading

Pippa Sanders’ life is sort of stalled I felt bad for her being a military wife having lost her husband That was not the worst part poor Pippa had her twins after her husband's death She visits his grave regularly for the past six years and nothing is going to change untilClay Yeah he is a love muffin Being he is in town helping at his Mom's Christmas tree farm while she is recovering from a strokeThey get started with Clay being so obnoxious I actually felt bad for a second then I was laughing so hard He is so direct and no nonsense with Pippa and it is what I thought she needed She is not a well rounded girl so the author creating a character that is just going through the motions meeting someone who tells her basically enough already He tells her things that to her are offensive but he does what I felt her friends and family should have done a while ago He tells her to start livingThere are conversations with Clay's Mom about how he wanted a big family and had asked her to have a brother or sister She explains what happened telling Pippa her story It was so special That woman was a wonderful characterThis is filled with a plot of a military group running parallel to the love story I love the cover and I picture Pippa like that Grab this for the sheer love story and enjoy the military part tooCONTENT WARNING Contains strong language hot sex and a spicy hero

I absofreakinlutely loved this book I was on such an emotional roller coaster ride with this one This is not a book for the faint of heart or someone wanting a sweet happy go lucky romance This one touches on real life possible situations that we in the states find ourselves in todayIt brings to the forefront what occurs and most of us do not pay attention to or think about unless it happens to us directly It was really a wake up call I cried from the beginning and felt so emotionally attached to Pippa and her situation It just tore at the heartstings on what this family had endured and I am so glad that Gemma brought this story to life I truly felt the heart ache the pain the devisation the anger the hope and the love that was written in this story Gemma did a fantastic job portraying all of this emotion with words It was so easy to visualize the happenings in this story The dilaogue of the characters drew me in letting me feel as if I was a part of the story The descriptions to details made me feel as if I was there Thank you Gemma for sharing this story with me and allowing me to go along on the ride It was breath taking humbling and thought provoking This is written as a multi pov It is book 2 of the series and can be read as a stand alone But don't I recommend reading book 1 as well Characters from book 1 play a big part in this bookWould I recommend this book? Absolutley Be warned this is not a typical sweet aaawwww romanceWould I read from this author? AbsolutelySassy Beta Reading Reviewwwwfacebookcomsassybetareading

4 magical tree starsI really enjoyed this one This is book 2 in the Five Senses series but book 1 does not have to be read to understand this story It is a spin off with secondary characters from book 1 We are introduced to Pippa as she is singing at a fallen soldiers funeral where she meets the guy who gives her sparks Clay But she also meets a dangerous man named Dewey Pippa is a widow with a set of twins that were not born yet when their father died So for 6 years she's been a single mother She dated around a little bit but nothing serious So upon meeting Clay and being so attracted to him threw her off kilter One thing I kept laughing about was Pippa wouldn't cuss around her children Some of the stuff she said waswell just plain funnyWhen he turned around to face her she started guiltily Oh fiddle he'd caught her staring at his butt^^ See? That is hilarious to meThis book had everything I look for in a storyAngstHot SexWitty CharactersSuspensefulLikable CharactersI liked how she wrote in details about the protesters at the soldiers funerals While in college we had a professor who showed us films about the Westboro Baptist Church and those people are crazy And I think Gemma wrote those characters wellSo if your looking for a story with a twist that is funny and sweet this is the book for you

So many of the books I read focus on the emotions and flutters of first loves They are my go to But every now and again I will read a book that deals with second chances And that is what I found in Hearts in HarmonyPippa Sanders is a ridiculously strong woman After her husband was killed in combat she is left alone 4 months pregnant with twins no less and completely heartbroken But she doesn't let it break her and she throws her heart and soul into being there for her children Heart and soul all in 100%her children are her life Her devotion to her kids is completely admirableand maybe a little bit of a defense mechanismWhen an uncomfortable situation at her husband's grave site results in a chance meetingand heated exchangewith Clay Mathers the beginnings of a crack develops in the wall Pippa has so carefully constructed and maintained And when she realizes that maybe she is feeling things she hasn't felt in a very long time it completely throws her for a loopAnd that's where this book gets funI'll admit Clay irked me at first He is brash and arrogant and completely justobnoxious Very much a speak before he thinks character And I did NOT like him at first In fact I almost had to stop reading But I kept going and before I realized what had happened I started to think that maybe he wasn't the #% that he first seemed to beOddly enough it was Clay's interaction with Pippa's twins that made me look at him in a different light And normally I am not a fan of kid characters in the books I read they remind me of child actors in Soaps BUTthat's just me and the fact that I found myself enjoying the scenes with the twins was a pleasant surpriseI promise that I'm not an absolute ogre like I seem to be in the previous paragraph I really do like children All in all I am very happy that I didn't stop reading and that I that I didn't let my initial impression of Clay deter me from their story I guess where I'm going with this is that second chances can be pretty awesome And if you are in the mood for a fun spicy read this summer add Hearts in Harmony to your to read list This review can also be found on my blog Flutters and Flails

Pippa has her hands full raising two six year olds on her own They are her entire world until a chance meeting with Clay And their chemistry is HOT I loved the the hero isn't perfect He's rough around the edges with a sailor's mouth and an attitude to match It would take a strong woman to take on his antics but throughout the story Pip brings out the best in this rough and tumble hero And stride for stride she is every bit as tough as him She doesn't wait for a man to save her and Clay wouldn't presume which is awesome More female leads could take a lesson or two from Pippa Clay's emotional growth throughout the book was one of my favorite parts about their love story Pippa and the kids break his calloused heart open a little with each encounter and the way Brocato handles the slow sizzle of their romance is perfectBrocato's words are like a song musical drawing the reader into the story until you are right there with the characters I teared up in several spots because she has this way of writing sentimentally without manipulating the reader A difficult balance and Brocato walks the line effortlesslyI loved the first book in this series Cooking Up Love and I've been looking forward to reading Hearts in Harmony in hopes that it would be as good as the first and it didn't disappoint Looking forward to books in this series I'm hoping Sam will get his day

There was much suspense in this book than in the first and it worked pretty well Another day in Granite Pointe and this time it’s an anti war organization that decided to ruin the Kerrigan family’s life But your friendly military strategist neighbor is here to helpI love the author’s heroes They’re alpha males with all the muscles where they should be and this one is even a bit of a grump and used to being alone but they’re also big balls of love–and passion cue the hot love scenes with their share of loss of control Not only for their woman but also for their woman’s family and friends and for their own But don’t try to threaten them or you’ll know their wrath has no limitMaking Pippa a music therapist was uite original and music is everywhere in the story The many details give life to that aspect of the heroine and you can’t help but relate to her Same with her grief The subject is treated with respect and accuracy Another strong element is the fact that she’s the mother of two little kids and you get a taste of what it’s like good and bad and they’re characters than just plot devicesThe small town element is here again mixed with the Kerrigan family’s closeness That makes for strong relationships that I really enjoyed I definitely want to know about the other siblingsuickie Series Five senses #2 can be read as a standalone Hashtags #romantic suspense #military romance #single mom Triggers mention of past rape and domestic abuse husband death and grief some violence Main couple Philippa Sanders Clay Mathers Hotness 45 Romance 55 lots of musical metaphors me like it – I think Dewey made me throw up in my mouth

Robbie's Review 45OK Ladiesif any of you are looking for a new book boyfriend allow me to introduce you to Clay MathersShe looked up at the face of the man standing before her A small reassuring smile flitted across full lips giving her a tantalizing glimpse of white teeth She got a fast glimpse of vivid green eyes and thick lustrous dark blond hair pulled back in a ponytail before the newcomer shoved her behind him Even from her restricted vantage point behind the big man Pip saw muscles bulging and rippling beneath his snug fitting t shirtIn her novel Hearts in Harmony author Gemma Brocato has Pippa Sanders and Clay Mathers first meeting under not so auspicious circumstances when Pippa is accosted by a member of one of those disgusting radical groups who make it their life's work to protest at the funerals of soldiers killed in action As the widow of a soldier Pippa is paying a visit to her husband's grave after attending services for a friend Clay is also visiting a grave nearby and is uick to come to Pippa's rescue Since the death of her husband Pippa is used to taking care of herself and her children without the help of a man and rather than being grateful to this stranger who sends the nasty protester packing Pippa is determined to show Clay she is uite capable of defending herself and show him she doeshowever her fancy maneuvers backfire and the carefully constructed walls she has built around herself begin to crumbleIt had been ages since she'd been interested in a man Now this foul mouthed stranger had held her hand briefly and left her tingling all overWho was this guy? Her next thought when she slid behind the wheel was and when will I run into him again?Pippa has a full life working with clients as a music therapist raising her children and providing support to military widows like herselfShe'd told Sarah to expect her grief to function like a Jack in the Box Daily or weekly maybe a year down the road the spring would wind tightly enough to force the pain out startling in its intensity It had been weeks since the puppet last jumped out for her Since she'd met ClayHer chance meeting with Clay Mathers who works for one of those government acronym agencies and is in town temporarily has her dreaming dreams of this green eyed hunk And the attraction is definitely mutualIn his forty years including a career in the military and continued association with the super secret three letter government agencies he consulted for he'd met many interesting people both men and women But he's never spent the darkest hours between dusk and dawn picturing any of them without their clothesHow much attractive could Clay be?? He's beautiful to look at he loves children and he's good to his mother I think readers will find Hearts in Harmony a pleasure to read I know I certainly did It's the second book in a series and although I found some of the back story on the other characters to be missing it was likely clarified in the first book and did not seriously detract from this book Actually it made me want to read the first book Cooking Up Love Hearts in Harmony is very well written with engaging characters and a story that is touching funny steamy and will bring you to the edge of your seat before it concludes just the way it should
