I was very kindly provided with a copy of Jolted to read and reviewRyder and Kallie two very different people but both travelling down the same path When Kallie is trying to cope with the grief of losing the person she's closest to in the world she seeks refuge by escaping the pressures of people expecting her to handle her pain without giving her the time and space to properly grieve When her car breaks down in the small uiet out of the way town close to where her boyfriend lost his life she is cast directly in to the path of twins Scarlett and Ryder Unable to leave avoiding her past and looking for a way to become someone new she uickly becomes immersed in theirs lives and their hearts Will they find a way to help her open up heal and become the woman she's set out to discover? Is her heart capable of loving again?Kallie is seemingly happy and content within the first handful of pages she has money status and her whole future mapped on in front of her She's young and her upbringing dictate it but her lack of being able to stand up to people was painful to read at times I always have an issue with characters that allow themselves to be used as doormats without so much as a no thrown out there regardless of who it is walking all over them I just wish that she'd of grown a little of a back bone by the end of the book She was easy to like and feel sorry for but at times I felt it was hard to form a proper connection with her Watching her work and interact I saw the full scope of her class and warmth I hated the contrast I could see between us I was darkness whereas she was light She was love and joy while I was hate and anger She was brilliant smart and had everything to offer the world I was bitter with no college education and could manage nothing than screwing things up Ryder is like a puzzle with some of the pieces missing Although this book is dual point of view Ryder's story manages to flow and progress but without giving away what it is that is slowly eating way at and consuming him You see as he battles between hot and cold with his emotions always taking things out on those closest to him At time I wanted to smack him for trying repeatedly to push Kallie away but after having reached the end of the book it is uite apparent why He is beautifully written with such strong emotions and characteristics I loved every minute of his chapters I could uite happily of just had the whole book from his mindOverall this was a really good read At times Kallie became a touch repetitive when explaining that she wouldn't go back home because of having to live under her parents ideas and wishes but I am hopeful that during book two she will find her inner strength that I felt was always lurking just beneath the surface and finally seize her own future and wishes It ends on a mild cliffhanger you aren't screaming at the book for dangling you head first over a sheer drop but it does leave you itching to see what exactly will be resolved at the start of Impacted One of the best points about the book was the curve ball it dealt near the end Although after finding out what it is and realising that there had been hints towards it throughout the book it did manage to catch me off guard and left me reeling This book is filled with sexual tension loss and dramas it was a very fun read and I look forward to delving straight in to Impacted at this very moment

I was provided with a copy of this book to give a honest reviewI must start by saying how much I really enjoyed this book I love books that give you both angles to a story which this certainly doesThis book follows the story of Kallie who seems to have everything going for her Wealthy hot boyfriend jus graduated college and just waiting for the proposal but then everything she has planed for her future changes in the blink of an eye Her parents jus want her to get over it and move on with her life but she just isn't ready to let go She finds herself a long drive from home sitting in a bar when a handsome stranger tires to lift her out of her funk Enter Ryder He is your typical bad boy in appearance leather tattoo jet black hair that jus oozes sex appeal I don't wanna say to much and give away the story as it is one of those books that once you start you can't just seem to put down The main uestion is even though they should stay away from each other can they? And if they give in to the desires that chase them will they be able to survive the secret that could make or break them? Would highly recommend this book

Wow Jolted was an amazing read It grab my attention right from the beginning and I didn't want to put it down until I was done reading It starts out sad and I did have tissues nearby just in case I needed them Kallie has her life all planned out with her long time boyfriend Carter Kallie's world is turned upside down when she loses Carter On the day of her graduation party Kallie drives off and ends up in a small town She meets Ryder at a bar in town The next morning when she goes to leave her car breaks down Her car breaking down might just have been what she needsRyder's sister Scarlett invites Kallie to stay with them while her car gets fix Scarlett is one of the nicest sweetest characters I felt like she was too nice and she must be hiding something Ryder is standoffish and sometime down right rude He has feelings for Kallie but doesn't want to act on them Ryder is definitely hiding something in his past and Kallie is not open about her path which is a disaster of any relationship There were couple surprised twists that had me going OMG When I got to the end I found myself trying to turn the page for but there wasn't There is a major cliffhanger It left me uestions and wanting I can't wait to read of Kallie and Ryder's story This is a drop everything and read book You won't be disappointed

This unbiased review is based on a free copy of provided to me by a Good Reads discussion group I am a part of The early portion of this book did a great job of outlining the story of a tragedy and the recovery process that the main character goes through It was detailed enough for the reader to appreciate the story without being overbearing As the story goes on the author tells of the main characters turbulent and sometimes a bit unbelievable recovery process There were a number of editing issues with repeated prose that was a bit frustrating but once I got beyond that I had an appreciation for the author’s approach and style I am not a big fan of books that change points of perspective and in this story I felt that the use of that approach was a bit unnecessary The style associated with Kallie was much better and easier to relate to than when we heard the story from Ryder’s perspective which was a bit jilted and less relatable I enjoyed the story Overall a uick and easy read leaving the reader needing to read the next book due to the open ending

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked ReadsOverall I think this is a good story with a strong underlying plot and certainly I cared enough to read it all the way through However parts of it just seemed so unrealistic that it detracted from the storyline There were some funny scenes and some touchingly hot ones which worked well The story was told by both characters and normally they moved forward rather than repeating a scene It will be very interesting to see where book 2 goesI was lucky enough to read an early copy but that did mean that it had not been fully proofread therefore I am not commenting on that aspect of it

Free review copy for blog tourRated 35 starsKallie Adams just graduated from Georgetown and is saying goodbye to her best friendroom mate Chloe and boyfriend Carter before heading home He's supposed to be one day behind her having already gotten a job interview for a very promising job All she wants is a break to breathe and her boyfriend by her side but as soon as she gets home her all too controlling and overbearing parents are already asking her what classes she has signed up for to complete her masters degree They are molding her to run the family business and although her family is extremely well off she has to work very hard for everything they give her There are no free handouts in this family The day after Kallie gets home her mother informs her that Carter was killed in an accident on his way home Kallie shuts down She doesn't know what to do or how to handle it She's always been Carter's girl After a few weeks of her walking around like a zombie trying to work thru her grieving her parents try to force normality back onto by still having her grad party She wants no part of that They just want their perfect existence back Kallie unable to face all the pressure being forced upon her and not ready to move on decides to just jump in her car and run for it She has to see the place it happened for herself In the process of running her car breaks down and she stuck hours from home She meets Ryder Brooks while grabbing a bite to eat at the local bar She decides to live a little and gets drunk with him and wakes up the next morning in his room not knowing how she got there Doing the walk of shame she meets Ryder's sister Scarlet and they instantly become friends She doesn't want her parents to know where she is so she decides to just stick around till her car gets fixed since she needs a break anyway She tells Scarlet and Ryder nothing about herself and tries to use that time to figure out what the hell she is going to do and what she wants Scarlet and Ryder do the best they can to help her but with her keeping secrets they don't' know what to do Ryder is also keeping secrets and continues to push Kallie away and then pull her back which is confusing her Read this book to find out if Ryder is able to pry her secrets from her and help her cope or if he sends her running away from the secrets he is keeping from herI was on the fence about this story It was a really easy read and the story flowed really well I liked Kallie's character She had a lot to learn about life Very sheltered didn't know what to expect out of a lot of situations But she wasn't scared to try to reach out there and take control of her life in a way It's really sad she had to run away to do so because she was so molded by her parents and those around her and what they expected of her She's like their puppet Scarlet was awesome RyderI liked how his character started out I understand he acted the way he did because of his secret but he acted like he was bipolar It was kind of annoying and semi creepyscary The two of them together on his good dayshawt Unfortunately the good days were few and far between and the story drug in the middle trying to show some kind of building of a relationship repeating the same stuff on a different day She refused to tell them anything about her and his secret was dragged out for so long that you are just saying come on tell me already We get it something has happened to make you be a moody bastard at times Had there not been such a huge gap in info and his secret been told sooner I would've liked it better I think it only hurt the story As for the ending I have my thoughts on that but I don't want to give them away and ruin it for anyone else I will say this so that those of you who read it will know what I'm talking about it It's not that far away Why fucking wait so damn long? I will read the next book because I want to know what happens I only hope the next book isn't spread as thin and has a bit meat 35 stars from me

I received a copy in exchange of an honest review I liked Jolted very much to the point that I went and bought the follow up book to see how Kallie and Ryder's story endsKallie Adams has the perfect life or so it seems She just finished college has the perfect boyfriend Carter high school sweetheart with whom her future is fully planned loving if overbearing parents Life deals her a brutal blow with Carter's death in a car accident making Kallie look for answers to uestions she never asked herself before In a deep distress and emotional void left by Carter's absence from her life life which gravitated around him he was my everything her parents decision to go on with her graduation party is the last straw that pushes Kallie over the edge and on the run to see the collision's site in reality to look for what she is to reconstruct herself from the ashes of her previous care free decisions free life Running away doesn't solve the problem but puts things in perspective and living among strangers gives her a new look at herself not clouded by pity and sympathy for her dire circumstances Her car broking in the small city in the middle of nowhere is a blessing in disguise forcing her to take a look at herself in a new light uestioning her sheltered and meak life always directed by her parents and her own desire to please the others with no regard to what she really wants Meeting Ryder at the local bar is a lucky strike even though it doesn't seem so st the first sight he is the bad boy emotionally scarred who loves only his twin sister Scarlett and his friends Logan and Caleb and has no room in his heart for anyone else especially not a woman But he is nice enough to take a drunk Kallie st his home for the night The awkward morning after Kallie makes Scarlett's auaintance who takes her under her wing and offers hosting her until her broken car is fixed I loved the story narrated from both Kallie and Ryder's point of view well paced compelling told with a sensitivity à fleur de peau making the book a real page turnerIf Kallie has a loving even though overbearing family herself being a bit at fault for never expressing her own desire but choosing the minimum resistance path pleasing her parents then her boyfriend and setting herself up for serious trouble in the future Ryder's life is completely opposite A misguided decision as a young teen led to his family break up loss of his father and subseuently his mother emotional scars that built up walls around his heart where he allows only Scarlett as a girl and Logan and Caleb as long term friends as close as brothers It is fascinating to read and watch the complex feelings that begin to develop between Kallie and Ryder how they break each other only to rebuild themselves stronger fiercer sensitive to each other and the surrounding world Both are credible characters deeply human and endearing with their ualities and failures It's tough to say but Carter's untimely death is the best thing to happen to Kallie who was well on the way to set herself up for s life of regret The secondary characters are charming complex as Scarlett and Logan fun as Caleb endearing as the ladies at the restaurant grumpy but caring as Ryder's boss or Hank Kallie's parents were a bit tougher to understand for me letting her go away for months while having the material possibility to find her knowing their daughter's distress I don't want to spoil the pleasure of reading the book so I will stop here I loved Jolted and the follow up story and am looking forward to reading Scarlett's book

Copy provided by the author in exchange for a honest review Thank youI have mixed emotions about this book and I'm trying to figure out how to put it into words There's Kallie a privileged do gooder that strives to please everyone around her It's what her family expects of her She had the perfect life she thought as long as she had her long time first love Carter Then he was taken from her in a horrible accident My first problem started here The author rushed over Carters death and his funeral I didn't feel Kallie's pain after his death I thought I'd be crying but instead the author told me he died but didn't show me and I felt disappointed that I didn't really feel Kallie's lossThen one day weeks later Kallie snaps she can't take it any She can't be the girl everyone expects her to be so she flees and ends up in a small town hours away from home where Carters life was taken from him Here she meets a Ryder a hot bad boy when she ends up getting drunk for the first time ever Her car breaks down and Ryder and his twin Scarlett take her in until it's fixed They begin to show her what it's like to live and be a normal 21 year old but she refuses to get to close She's broken damagedThere is clearly attraction between Kallie and Ryder but the book moves uite fast We didn't really get to see too many interactions between the two although they lived together So I kept reading and reading wanting to get to the good parts It took a while and I think that's because Alyne tried showing us Kallie's healing journey I did appreciate this because it kept it somewhat realistic There were times I shook my head laughing at some of the stupid things Kallie did eg She just woke up on the couch and Ryder was making coffee in the kitchen she sat up and waved enthusiastically at him Really?? I couldn't help envisioning her waving her hand back and forth super fast when a big cheesy smile on her face like an 8 year old She did this a few times Then there were the words such as I woke up and the sun burned my retinas What the hell is a retina? I can only assume she meant eyes You will also notice that when talking about her parents she's constantly referring to them as my mother did this my father did that It felt too formal I get that if she called them that to their face it would reinforce the 'proper elegant' life style she and her family lived but for NA purposes I don't see the point in referring to them 'my father and mother' in the commentary There were also a few miss spelt words which through me off throughout the bookHOWEVER the story still pulled me in and I kept reading I didn't want to put it down Perhaps because I was really waiting for her and Ryder to finally get it on after forever But the pull was there I admit I did skim through the last ten or so pages only to find out this book is a CLIFFHANGERKudos to the author though You created a story and you managed to suck me in despite my mixed feelings I will put the next in the series on my TBR Thank you
