Toodrawn out for me The writing was very good but the plot story line was dragged out too much

I'm so torn writing this review because I am a HUGE fan of Violet Duke's books This book not so much While I really like the overall story the writing felt rushed with many of the twists and character issues left unresolved I love the characters in this book but I really want to know about them The book left me feeling unfulfilled

Good romanceThis series is full of great romance stories Each book is a complete novel with no cliffhanger The characters are great with lots of emotion The writing style is easy to follow and focuses on the story details rather than a lot of steamy scenes I would recommend the whole series

This review was originally posted to Jen in Bookland45 starsI loved Love Tussles and Takedowns Hudson and Lia are amazing together Where they both end up by the end of the book is just perfect Such a great readLia is this strong tough girl She is the bouncer for the local bar she is an antiue arms authenticator she does kickboxing and martial arts she is just amazing She is small but man you do not want to mess with her Loved herHudson is trying to figure out his new life outside the military He was forced to retire when he was injured before he was ready Now he is working on films helping with the fight scenes and weapons expert He has a bit of PTSD and just not really dealing with what happened to him well He is just kind of existing until he sees Lia at a friends wedding When he runs into her again at an antiue arms convention he is intriguedOne of my favorite things about this book is how much Hudson loves Lia for her strength How he admired her for her skills and knowledge of things How he is just in awe of her as a person He spars with her they fight and he doesn't always win He loves that and I love that about him I love how he can appreciate someone who is so strong and able She has some issues to deal with herself but he is so sweet with her He helps her work through some things that she didn't even know she wanted or needed He helps clear some things up for her and he is just amazing with herHudson has some injuries that made it so he could no longer be in the military He has some things to deal with regarding that last mission that injured him He carries a lot around with him and Lia is the perfect person to share some of that weight She helps him in ways than he could have imagined They didn't think there could ever be anything long term between them since he works on movie sets and is stationed all over all the time but man I am so glad they figure it all out in the endHudson anything with you and the word 'home' in it sounds better than perfect to meAnd it makes me wonder if what Lia and her brother came up with to help Hudson and people like him do these places actually exist? Is what she did something returning soldiers have access to? This book made me want to look into what resources there are for injured returning soldiers Really amazingOh there is one other thing I have absolutely no idea how Lia puts up with her brothers There is protective there is over protective then there are her brothers She wears a watch that signals them of her mood every second of the day with alarms if she seems upset Really? Why would you ever wear that? I would not have been able to handle that That is way too overprotective for me And too invasive I can see with her past she might have had some issues but man That was a bit much but she doesn't seem to think so And Hudson deals with it too It was just like woah I would not be able to handle that I would be getting them to back off I know they do it because they care but it was way over the top for me But if they don't mind then I guess I shouldn't eitherOverall another great read I love how the author writes and handles every situation I love the characters and the town and I just am always left wanting Amazing

Violet Duke brings us a romance with two incredibly romantic Alphas that know their firearms and love to roughhouse and find it incredibly SEXY They are adorable trying to take it slow but getting turned on at the slightest noise roundhouse kick and tap out Liana the heroine seems like she has all of her trauma behind her but there is something that she didn't really know wasn't resolved Hudson has a deeply buried misery that when it rears it's ugly head it's well ugly This torment is difficult to resolve Love Tussles and Takedowns takes place in a uirky small town with Saturday Markets that have giant Lincoln Logs and colorful picnic blankets rather than tables scattered through the park It also opts to have a cereal bar instead of a sundae bar Liana's brothers are compelling There is Caine the overprotective Police Officer Gabe is the tech genius that Lo Jacks cell phones and can make watches that monitor heart rate and mood and even match a playlist accordingly Max is of a Gamer guy who Betas the games before release But they are funny as Hell and can charm the pants off of you Liana and Hudson go through a lot of trials which allow them to be able to find their way to being open to being in a lasting relationshipLove Tussles and Takedowns is an incredibly fun read It's sexy delightful and has just enough angst not to be a downer but still intriguing Violet Duke brings yet another interesting combination of hero and heroine together in the fantastically uirky town of Cactus Creek The entire cast of characters are fabulous The novel has an energy that has you almost unable to set the book down And I loved the open door love match between Drew and Skylar the teenage girl character from Violet Duke's Can't Resist series I can't wait to move on to the next installment of the Cactus Creek seriesThis novel is from my personal bookshelf which mean I purchased it thus it is an honest review
