Just finished this book today and I did like it basically, but it s not one of my favorites, or even one I d necessarily highly recommend It s a nice story of the faith of a family especially a mother who experience a severe trial in their lives and find the strength to continue on I won t give away the ending, or even the twists in the plot, but after reading Harry Potter, the story dragged too much, and after reading quite a few good solid classics, the writing and substance wasn t high Just finished this book today and I did like it basically, but it s not one of my favorites, or even one I d necessarily highly recommend It s a nice story of the faith of a family especially a mother who experience a severe trial in their lives and find the strength to continue on I won t give away the ending, or even the twists in the plot, but after reading Harry Potter, the story dragged too much, and after reading quite a few good solid classics, the writing and substance wasn t high enough for me to love it regardless of the slow speed I am not usually one to complain about a book dragging if there are a lot of other exceptional qualities to buoy it up The ending, in juxtaposition to the rest of the book, seemed much too rushed and was an unnatural effort to tell the rest of the story in two or three pages That didn t work for me either

This book was about two kids whose parents fall off the roof Christmas eve and both end up severely injured Their mother heals very quickly but sadly their dad does not They do not know if he will live They decide to wait to celebrate Christmas until their dad gets well Sadly they begin losing hope I think that the theme for this story is never lose hope As soon as they all begin to lose hope they began to feel worse and it seemed that their dad would get worse They began to doubt that th This book was about two kids whose parents fall off the roof Christmas eve and both end up severely injured Their mother heals very quickly but sadly their dad does not They do not know if he will live They decide to wait to celebrate Christmas until their dad gets well Sadly they begin losing hope I think that the theme for this story is never lose hope As soon as they all begin to lose hope they began to feel worse and it seemed that their dad would get worse They began to doubt that their dad would ever get better But when they kept hope they were happier And their dad seemed to get better too I like this book because it had lots of detail, it was interesting, and it flowed well I did not like this book because there were multiple parts that were hard to understand and follow and some of the characters bugged me

This was not a very good Christmas book There were some good themes of hard work and faith and importance of family, but overall, it was a big disappointment A young boy watches his father fall off the roof on Christmas Eve, and because his dad remains in a coma for months, he becomes the man of the house I liked how he took on his new responsibilities while still remaining a young boy And the mother stays faithful and true to her husband although the doctors don t give him much hope, but it This was not a very good Christmas book There were some good themes of hard work and faith and importance of family, but overall, it was a big disappointment A young boy watches his father fall off the roof on Christmas Eve, and because his dad remains in a coma for months, he becomes the man of the house I liked how he took on his new responsibilities while still remaining a young boy And the mother stays faithful and true to her husband although the doctors don t give him much hope, but it was anticlimactic with a poor ending and no real message At least I can cross this off my Christmas Book list for next year My advice, don t waste the time, even if it is a couple of hours But the cover is pretty

I like this book for the values it taught about work and family unity I also liked learning a littleabout what needs to be done to keep an orchard operating I was however very disappointed in how one of the characters tries to have an o fare with another character We bought this book to be a Christmas book that we can read together as a family With the junk they brought in I wouldn t want to read this to my kids.

  8. Marissa Marissa says:

2.5.I understand what they were trying to do, but no mother in her right mind would make her children hold off opening Christmas presents in the hopes of their dad getting better I know, I know, it was the theme of the book But that doesn t mean I agreed I was hoping for a book to put me in the Christmas spirit This didn t do it.

  9. Tiffeny Tiffeny says:

I didn t love this book, but I liked it I hated how the mother made the children wait to open their Christmas presents I thought that was so rude and unnecessary Let the kids especially that poor little girl have their Christmas, and take that darn tree down for heaven s sake But, that was really my biggest complaint, so it was OK.

  10. Emma Emma says:

Easy read It starts off as Christmas It then takes you through spring Sometimes the subject is less than upbeat and you begin to wonder about the welfare of the charactors The description of the orchards and the bonds that glue a family together was excellent It reminded me when I lived in Eastern Washington, amongst fruit orchards and the small town personalities.
