I wanted to read this because Rick had been featured in previous books in a bad light I knew there had to be something in his past and that the author was setting us up, but his attitude and obvious discomfort around his fellow firefighters who were openly gay, left me forming opinions that I wanted clarified Full review to come

I thought that this book was rushed There didn t seem to be great chemistry between the main characters to me I think I was looking forof a connection between the two not just the fact that they went through a terrible ordeal when they were teenagers, but could learn to showunderstanding behaviour Maybe it s because I ve been readingemotional books too and went in expecting emotional characters.

My least favorite one of the series Rick and Stan s relationship is rushed There s no romance built up The author was relying on their previous history to make up for the blank spaces I didn t believe it.

So disappointed with this book I enjoyed the previous books in the series, but this one just didn t work as well for me I had trouble with Rick s acceptance of his sexuality I felt like I missed a whole part of the book So his newly out relationship with Stan just didn t make any sense when he was so adamantly denying it all I know he was supposed to be going to counseling, but without seeingof the sessions, or gettinginto his head, I couldn t see the transition from denial to a So disappointed with this book I enjoyed the previous books in the series, but this one just didn t work as well for me I had trouble with Rick s acceptance of his sexuality I felt like I missed a whole part of the book So his newly out relationship with Stan just didn t make any sense when he was so adamantly denying it all I know he was supposed to be going to counseling, but without seeingof the sessions, or gettinginto his head, I couldn t see the transition from denial to acceptance So it felt like it came out of nowhere
