This entire series is a wonderful way to learn history or teach it to adolescents I find today s generations seem to recallwhen they learn through other people pop songs, celebrity gossip, etc , so what better way to teach history than through someone else s perspective Yes, authentic diaries would be better , but would the language really hold the modern student s attention Did the diary writer know what WOULD be important in the context of history Probably not.

Better than the other My America I have read so far, but still less than Dear America in my opinion This has a lot to do with nostalgia, as I grew up before this particular part of Dear America came out, so when it did, I was 13 or so, too old for these I do enjoy going back and reading these now, but would have liked themas a younger kid Again, great for elementary kids, to get them into a particular time period, and nice and short, but since there are three, you get to see a lot of st Better than the other My America I have read so far, but still less than Dear America in my opinion This has a lot to do with nostalgia, as I grew up before this particular part of Dear America came out, so when it did, I was 13 or so, too old for these I do enjoy going back and reading these now, but would have liked themas a younger kid Again, great for elementary kids, to get them into a particular time period, and nice and short, but since there are three, you get to see a lot of stuff One thing I do like, is the fact that this one shows what came right before the war, unlike Winter Of Red Snow

I know that these books are not written for me and I read them for sheer nostalgia since these kinds of books got me into history when I was a kid , but I would have found this one a tad boring even as a kid.
