As this review says, Sun, sand, sea and a sexy stranger Yes, please One of my favorite novels of all time isThe Beach , and I would take anything that even remotely resembles any element of it.WHAT I LIKED about it is that it s straightforward, fast paced and unapologetic It sticks by its story, and tells it well enough that I could see it possibly happening in real life.WHAT I DIDN T LIKE about it is that I got sidetracked by all the steam I blame Carson Also, it ends on a major clif As this review says, Sun, sand, sea and a sexy stranger Yes, please One of my favorite novels of all time isThe Beach , and I would take anything that even remotely resembles any element of it.WHAT I LIKED about it is that it s straightforward, fast paced and unapologetic It sticks by its story, and tells it well enough that I could see it possibly happening in real life.WHAT I DIDN T LIKE about it is that I got sidetracked by all the steam I blame Carson Also, it ends on a major cliffhanger Good thing I have all books in the trilogy.EXTRA If you enjoy spy stories and temptation island arcs, this is the trilogy you need

First of a trilogy, and the advice was correct to have the next two queued up It s short, it s snappy, it hops straight to the point and straight between the sheets within the first couple pages in the way that I love, and then shit hits the fan Bring on book two.

The opposite of a slow burn and basically prologue, but I m intrigued.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review, which was originally posted on book blog Will Read for Feels. It s been raining here in Manila, Philippines, and I was missing the beach that was my home in Cebu, and I thought, What could be better to take me out of these gray days than a romance set in a tropical paradise So I wasthan happy to give Bianca Mori s In Too Deep a read when I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review, which was originally posted on book blog Will Read for Feels. It s been raining here in Manila, Philippines, and I was missing the beach that was my home in Cebu, and I thought, What could be better to take me out of these gray days than a romance set in a tropical paradise So I wasthan happy to give Bianca Mori s In Too Deep a read when offered a review copy When I started it, I was expecting nothingthan a summer fling with a splash of love and lots of heat I got that, plus, plus I started reading the book just the way I like it knowing nothing about it except what was on the blurb and that Bianca Mori was the pen name of Katrina Ramos Atienza I d read and reviewed her Well Played and quite enjoyed it, although it had a negligible steam factor I also read another novella by Bianca Mori, One Night at the Palace Hotel, about a year ago I remember it being a steamy contemporary piece that was quite a bit of fun and drama, and I expected In Too Deep to be pretty much the same.Except that the first chapter the first scene, really delivered a heaping of mystery that would hover at the back of my mind throughout the read, eventually sending off sparks in the final chapter And while a huge part of my overall impressions of the book are touched by this little bit of intrigue, I ll do my best to avoid spoilers in this review.First off, there s the main character, Mary Shaw When I first read it, I took a moment because my reaction was Really It s such a dull as ditch water name that it required that the author make her an interesting character I hope it s a fake name, I remember thinking And the first scene seemed to underscore that possibility, so immediately I started wondering who she really was Rock star Whistle blower President s mistress Of course, the next scene introduced the love interest, Carson Varis Better, much better, I thought when I read his name The scene was told form his point of view, so I got a sense of that playboy smugness, although enough of his personality shone through that I had to wonder what he was doing as part of an island tour, as he seemed a bit too much of a renegade for it.Little things like this, as well as Mary s nightmares and her jumpiness just didn t add up to the simplicity of an island fling, although on the surface, Mori certainly delivered on that There as a lot of back and forth tension between Carson and Mary, and some decidedly hot scenes, even though these tended to be heavier on the foreplay and I personally would have liked a littledelivery on the actual sex scenes In fact, I had started to put away the thought of anythingmysterious going on than a chance summer fling. Then their vacation ended, and boom, there it was again Which kind of made me want to pummel something because just when things got really interesting, I discovered I d have to wait until the next novella to learnSo, author, if you re reading this, please make it soon I m not a big fan of cliffhanger endings because my readerly patience level is about 2 on a scale between 1 and 10, so I m hoping to find some kind of resolution to this sometime soon. But apart from my particular aversion to cliffhangers although I totally admire readers who like them, and I do understand why authors write them , what kept me from giving this read a higher rating was the writing style and language.Since starting this blog, I ve learned to be a bitforgiving and also to silence my inner editor a bitBut when a writer invests as much as Mori has in the style and description, when settings are colored richly by similes and metaphors and some of the banter is based off of word play and a knowledge of idiomatic expressions, it tends to make me expectof the language To put it plainly, I expect impeccable grammar and orthography, and unfortunately this didn t make the grade There was a particular interchange between the main character and the love interest early on that made fun of another character s language slip that felt would have worked better if it hadn t involved a bit of dodgy wording itself. So while I appreciated the effort the author put into styling and voice, I found myself wishing that she d employed a bit of the less isapproach, as it colored several scenes in a rather distinct shade of purple Still, even though this meant I couldn t dive into the story quite as quickly as I might have liked, once I had gotten over that bit of editorial angst, I did find myself enjoying the novella And when I asked myself if I would read the next one, I was pretty sure I would, which meant this was a win in my personal review list
