I'm really enjoying this series with its focus on the world outside the high ton of the Regency era It provides insight into the life of women who had very little option other than to enter some form of prostitution to survive and the risks associated with those choices The characters are well developed and the plot remains realisticI look forward to the next book in the series

This one was even better than the first one in the series The Cryptographer Second Sons #1 There was definitely of a focus on the romance than the spy aspect which was a bit of a switch from the first book but it was very enjoyable and much believable because of that choiceI absolutely adored uinn from his outward personality to his inner depths The author created the book boyfriend I think every historical romance reader dreams of Ianthe was also a joy to read her strength and determination and most of all her self awareness were so refreshing She lavishes guilt on herself for not looking out for a friend and even so for eventually thinking about said friend for purely selfish reasons and she was absolutely right I didn't think it was misplaced or overboard; the author was able to give her the exact right amount of self recrimination that was believable and something I think readers can connect toWhile the romance is self contained I'm not sure readers can get a true sense of the spy plot that encompasses the whole series The necessary aspects are explained lightly so a new reader wouldn't be lost but to fully appreciate the situation the author has created I recommend reading the first book in the series first and you won't be sorry because that was also a delightI highly recommend this whole series to anyone who loves strong female characters and strong male characters who love their heroines for exactly who they are especially if you love that sort of thing in a historical setting I can't wait to read The Conundrum Second Sons #3

I was a bit disappointed by this book The hook was good and the beginning was perfect but something about the middle and end just lagged for me Part of it was that the story is uite well written but needed one last round of copy editing reading about applying rogue instead of rouge and similar blunders kept pulling me out of the story The book also suffered from the same woes as the first book where the author tries too hard to cliffhang for the seuel rather than giving us a nice romance novel epilogue All told I probably won't move on to book 3

Great romance Didn't add much to the conspiracyThe idea of 7 days and 7 kisses was amazing I looked forward to discovering how uinn would claim his next kiss And the wait was worth it Great build up to the main event I liked that sex was not a part of and I's relationship because of who she was Although the romance part of this book was good the story line did not add much to the overall conspiracy storyline that stretches across the series The whole point of uinn being in her house was to gain information He certainly didnt try very hard

The second book in the series follows uinn and the courtesan Ianthe I appreciate that this series has as heroines women who would be outcasts in society This book also presents a glimpse at the infamous Bedlam and underscores how the aristocracy was often trying to sweep the less fortunate under the proverbial rug Of coarse we also learn about the plot that led them on this merry chase in the first place

I am an avid regency reader I love the formula behind regency romance but I'll admit I like seeing something a little different This book and the series thus far provides it The characters are believable the tension makes sense both romantically and situational I'm eagerly awaiting the next two books in the series

  8. Anna Anna says:

I liked the first book better than this book because in this story the spy element took a back seat until the end Overall still an enjoyable read and will continue to read the next 2 books in the series

OMG I loved this even than the first book and I really like the first book The hero is even lovable and I enjoyed how this book contributes to over all development of the traitor's plot started in the first bookNote You NEED to read these in order

I really enjoyed this book I've read a lot of historical romance including the big names and I think this new author is one to watch
