    A Hearts On Fire Review 25 HEARTS Oh dearYou know those cheesy Lifetime movies? If you've never been so lucky to experience one let me help you out They're movies where the plot is pretty basic and the twist can be seen a galaxy away The actors are bad you wonder how'd they even get the job And yet you can't seem to stop watching The entire thing is a train wreckThe Bear's True Mate was one of those movies for me in a bookIt had me suinting my eyes Heck I'm suinting my eyes in disdain right now as I type Because the characters were one dimensional And any time it seemed like there was a hint of depth or character peeking through the cheesiness just flattened it over againWhen bear shifter Ajay meets his true mate fellow bear shifter Henry McShane while working at a supermarket his bear recognizes his mate They flirt have mere kisses only and get to know one another The feelings seem mutual the reader is only told through flashbacks But Henry has a secret a wife They separate once it comes to light Cut to months late and Ajay is being saved by Henry from a secret scientific experimentThe what why and how come is shaky and gets shakier because the world building is very basic The author seems to worry about setting up for the future couples then developing the main characters Ajay is hurt but it's okay because sex will save the day smh Instead of character growthbuttsex I am one of those readers who don't mind the miscommunication plots But this was sloppy Besides the telling there was I am mad at you for a past hurt BUT I don't want to talk about it now And we can't talk about it at all but let's screw plot device It was slightly frustratingThere was possessive sex But I didn't really care for either main character And the villain heavy sigh What was her purpose? Every one just called her a bitch she was evil without a purpose and one dimensional Just disappointing And when the final showdown happened it just a total rushed and bland momentIf you don't mind uick paranormal romances where anyone can be the characters barely any world building then you might like thisIt's not my first time reading this author but my first time reading paranormal from her I doubt I'll read of this series but you never know those cheesy Lifetime movies might catch you on the right day at the right time shrugsThis story isn't memorable though it had decent ideas

    35 starsHenry met Ajay his true mate when he's already married Ajay didn't know this Henry keeps pursuing Ajay despite the guilt he felt for his wife And now he was a free man or bear? and didn't want to spend his life alone without his mate He wants a second chance I loved how Ajay did not just give in to forgive Henry I know Henry was wrong But he's just a man When the mating call strikes it's hard to turn it down And I can see how Henry was so strong willed to make everything better for both of them You like harleuin? Don't mind with a bit of drama in your book? I think you would like this one PS Thanks for the recommendation Di ;

    This book was just OK I really would have been better had it been a bit longer Henry and Ajay meet and realize they are fated mates but for some reason which is just so odd to me in a shifter book the dude decided he was in his 30's and it was time to get married and raise cubs with a woman a woman who he knew is not his fated mate?? WHY?? In anycase he starts dating Ajay whilst married the wife confronts Ajay he's appalled because Henry never told him he married and he runs off All the above is basically told in a flashback The book starts a year later and Henry's wife is conveniently deadand Henry is chasing the hunters He stumbles upon a lab and there in a cage is poor AjayOf course Ajay wants nothing to do with him because he is a cheater duh and because the book is so short he forgive Henry lickidly split and ends up preggo the one thing the wife couldn't give Henry Take that conveniently dead wife lol because of something the crazy lab lady did to himthe end

    I do love an mpreg story and this first book in a new series started out fairly well I would have enjoyed a little longer story because I think the characters could have been developed but overall it was fun sexy and sweetI'm always interested in how the author will play the mpreg trope and in this case it was due to a genetic scientist messing with the three shifters she had captured The science part was interestingFun read

    Self note so the dude knew he had a mate since he's a shifter decides to marry OW despite that meets his mate and cheats and lies to both his mate and wife and when she dies he goes after his mate? WTF?

    Turns out that humans aren’t the only ones who do stupid things when given the choice between the perfect mate who happens to be the same sex and a mate they can have children with It’s not something seen often in shifter books but it makes for an interesting “what if” story And with the way the author has set up this world where shifters are not known to exist except by a group of cruel hunters and scientists without a conscience this “what if” turns out to be a lot complicated than I expectedHenry is a bear shifter and as it turns out he made a horrible mistake when he turned away his fated mate bear shifter Ajay Henry had decided he needed a wife so he could have cubs In a cruel twist of fate his wife is killed by the hunters and Henry ends up running into Ajay again But does he talk to the man? Of course not Well not at first and when he does Ajay is less than receptive Plus Henry has to deal with feeling guilty with going on with his life while his wife is dead Henry has just begun to deal with most of it when the big shock has him and Ajay reelingAjay may be many things but he is not a cheater When Henry frees him after many months in some scientist’s lab Ajay has no idea Henry’s wife is dead So when Henry tries to kiss him Ajay pushes him away and ignores him Then he finds out Henry’s wife has died – but while that opens up the possibility of a relationship it doesn’t mean he can just forget that Henry lied to him about being married and didn’t follow the mating bond once before The whole situation might have ended in a stalemate if Ajay hadn’t found out he is pregnant It’s something that isn’t supposed to be possible and it definitely makes both Ajay and Henry reevaluate their optionsIf you like shifter worlds with unexpected twists and turns if fated mates being rejected only to find out they can be with their destined partner after all piues your interest and if you’re looking for a short hot read that is part of a series and a longer story arc then you might like this novella This slightly different approach to male pregnancy certainly has me curiousNOTE This book was provided by Evernight Publishing for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews

    Mpreg lovers this is the book for you I picked this book up because I enjoy mm shifter books that ends up with a male getting knocked up I thought this book was going to be on the light side but it is darker than expected and this works out better for me Ms Monvey is a new to me author and I'm interested in reading from herHenry McBane was once happily married with another shifter He and his wife enjoy a good life and they check off most of what is expected as a married couple Life throws Henry a curve ball when he finds his soul mate and it is not his wife June Instead it is a male bear shifter AjayMs Monvey does a nice job of setting up a relationship conflict that is revealed half way through the book With the start of the book focusing on Ajay's imprisonment by a sadistic and unethical doctor it pulls a reader in As the story unfolds it is easy to see this is a character driven book This works out well because the star crossed lover theme between Henry and Ajay is well thought out The conflicts and resolution are lose lose situations yet end up with a happily ever after This takes skillHenry and Ajay are both very likeable characters Neither one is perfect Sometimes people are in the right place at the wrong time The second chance they have is fraught with unknowns and danger The two of them together is rather sweet and provides the ray of hope which balances out the dark undercurrent of this taleFor a layman with no medical knowledge the mpreg situation is explained in a way that is believable for me I'm sold This is the humourous piece which also helps lighten the dire predicament the shifters find themselves in After reading this book I eagerly look forward to the next book in this series There are uestions I want answered The hints in this book set up for what may be another dark tale Recommended for mm paranormal romance readers with a fetish for pregnant males

    A Joyfully Jay review 3 starsOkay So a story like this hinges on world building and in this novella it was somewhat lacking There wasn’t much information about shifter culture or how it all worked There were some passing mentions of a Council that apparently led the shifters and that shifters themselves weren’t known to the general population But mostly it was kind of left to speculation You all know that world building is one of my loves so to have it lacking here left me with a lot of uestions and that pulled me out of the story someWhat I absolutely enjoyed about this story was the way the author attempted to explain male pregnancy Okay so I know that sentence sounds weird But my inner science geek was all over the explanation and I loved that it was actually a plausible explanation All right plausible in the realm of shifters and the way genetic worked But honestly this was the part that I was most leery about and I have to say that the author actually made me believe it could happen At least theoretically I’ve never seen it explained uite like this and for that my estimation of this book went upOther than that we have two likeable characters who don’t stand out too much They are well drawn and I understood their motivation My heart ached for Ajay and for what he’d gone through both before the abduction and after Henry was a big old sweetheart so even though his choices weren’t the best when he was still married I found myself ready to forgive him Not just for his personality but because I also felt his true remorse I didn’t feel a whole lot of chemistry from these guys and I think the plot relied a little too heavily on the fated mates aspect rather than building their relationshipRead Kris’ review in its entirety here

    The transitions in the story are choppy for me Like I missed some indication of jumping subject at timesWithout going through how they met and the actions involved it's really hard to be sympathetic to Henry for cheating on his wife Sure it could be honestly trying to come to grips with what to do and all that but there's no experience to back it upThen this female scientist is around long enough for a little angst in this book then what's going to be their beef?If come behind this I am not going to be on board with finding out the details I just didn't like this enough

    Awesome read Love the tensions between Ajay and Henry when they see each other again after all what happened between them a time ago Henry wants his true mate and doens't want to give up But if it's enough and if Ajay will forgive him well see yourself Looking Forward to read the next book in this series
