I love Eduardo Risso’s art and I’m a huge horror fan so I expected to absolutely adore “Eduardo Risso’s Tales Of Terror” Drawing inspiration from the old EC style suspense comics Risso’s crisp gritty art so recognizable from the “100 Bullets” series translates perfectly to the vampires mummies demons and killers in these eleven short stories Risso is not the weak link here I think after reading this and their “Chicanos” collaboration I can officially say that I’m not a fan of Carlos Trillo’s writing Too often his stories don’t have the oomph to match Risso’s starkly beautiful drawings his dialogue and pacing are not great and he indulges in the crass and immature much too willingly Risso deserves better This should’ve been a top tier book but it’s almost uniformly mediocre Incredibly stylish but mediocreFAVORITES“Chapter 5” A high powered businessman with a gambling addiction accepts a high stakes wager“Chapter 6” A vampire uses the anonymity of a costume party to indulge his peculiar thirst“Chapter 10” A resurrected Frankenstein’s monster discovers that he’s much accepted in modern times

Man maybe I went in with expectations too high or maybe short story comic horror doesn't impress me as much any but most of these tales failed to pack a punch Don't get me wrong they're all uite entertaining and of course the art is incredible worth the purchase by itself but after a great buildup the twist endings just kind of fizzled out

I picked this out on a whim and I'm glad I did This is some good short fiction story telling Most of these stories have great twists that you don't see coming
