An Amish family does some shopping and visits with relatives in this sweet gentle taleThe artwork by John Sanford is particularly striking and ablaze with the colors of autumn

I enjoyed this book as a celebration of autumn and the wonderful things associated with autumn as well as a peek into the Amish community I think some of the words they use would inspire some great context clues lessons I could also see a great compare and contrast lesson using this book for class Even during my Merchant unit for advanced students it would give them an idea about the countryside and a time that wasis simpler than ours and has its own rhythm The storytelling and words share that rhythm and you can feel it as you read the book It would be great for that type of background information

Really liked the depiction of the Amish Very positive The pictures were realistic and very detailed Only uestionable part some of the older men were playing checkers and I've heard that the Amish do not play games like that because they frown on competition

An evocative story of a simple day in the life of an Amish family Bought for me by my parents in Intercourse USA back in 9899 if memory serves correctly Gloriously coloured illustrations full of details coupled with lovely words Good for adults and children
