Sense Sensibility I was confused by the flurry of characters introduced at the beginning of the book The primary Characters are Elinor and Marianne but they have an unimportant 3rd sister who kept me confused about who was who until she was dropped from the story At points the book reads like the author was tired of writing or had no idea what she wanted to do and things are just glossed over The ending of the book is probably one of the most heinous examples of this wrapping everything up into a single short chapterThe story itself was enough to keep me interested though nothing was particularly gripping It's just an alright little storyPersuasion Once again I prefer the lesser known book in the set Anne is a marvelous woman and her tale is filled with interesting moments and situations I found the end particularly gripping and stayed up later than I should have to finish the book

I love to read but some reason have had the works of Jane Austen for years but never completed any reading Having returned from vacation made a trip to the library only for the book club meeting and not allowing enough time to select books for reading I was forced to look to my own extensive personal library Here I found this huge book started with the first story Sense and Sensibility The old style language slowed the reading of the story but it was interesting because it was so foreign to my own concept of relationshipslifestyle engagements and social norms The limited opportunities for women in this society were enslaving Jane Austen herself escaped some of the limits by remaining single and engaging herself with her writing The unchanging parts of her story were the foibles of the heart which remain the same across the ages

More of Austen's classic works As I've said before I utterly delight in Jane Austen's precise understanding of human nature She was a psychologist way before Freud invented the term I'd bet good money and a place in heaven that her works were a profound influence on his
