Abby s Bodyguard is an odd one for meIt has many elements that I d normally hate in a book but, here, I actually didn t To back up, the number one thing that will make me not finish a book is implausibility and this book is highly implausible The story itself is completely ridiculous, a ridiculous scenario wrapped in serious packaging Abby, the daughter of an Alabama senator under threat, is a twenty four year old grown woman that vacillates between 4 and 40 but who s mainstay is being a Abby s Bodyguard is an odd one for meIt has many elements that I d normally hate in a book but, here, I actually didn t To back up, the number one thing that will make me not finish a book is implausibility and this book is highly implausible The story itself is completely ridiculous, a ridiculous scenario wrapped in serious packaging Abby, the daughter of an Alabama senator under threat, is a twenty four year old grown woman that vacillates between 4 and 40 but who s mainstay is being a brat Kate Mitchell is the homeland security officer assigned to protect her by any means possible, even if that means discipling Abby to keep her safe from herself And, yes, this is a spanking story similar to the style of Anastasia Vitsky There s no erotica in the book itself unless you count the many spanking sessions as such I don t.If what I mentioned above doesn t already strike you as ridiculous, maybe this will Abby STILL gets spanked by her father and godfatherthis isn t meant to be creepy but I couldn t help thinking it was.Kate continues this form of discipline while on assignment.Kate and Abby have insta love. You ll find that Kate and Abby s interactions are completely over the top inappropriate for any work situation Dammit and hell are considered swear words And, there were plenty of editorial mistakesone even where Kate says her name using Abby s last name Kate McDaniel instead of Kate Mitchell. Not to mention that the security protocols, though convincing enough for me, may not stand up under scrutiny. All of that said, I actually didn t think this story was bad In fact, I even found it, dare I say, charming And, it is well written at its core The characters are defined, the dialogue and pacing flow, the writing itself is competentand the story is certainly unique There is talent here.and I enjoyed reading it The story, despite any ridiculous element, does have gravity, suspense, action, light humor, even heart.Would I recommend it I would but I say that knowing it s a complete toss up as to how others would receive it Some may enjoy it eventhan I did while others may find it infuriating So, it s really your call.As a fair warning, there s a sexual assault trigger in the story, so if that s an issue you may want to skip it.I d definitely read other works by this author Overall, 3.5 stars

It was a mixed bag of nuts for me I liked some parts of it, and disliked other parts. The writing doesn t blow me away, at all The amount of punctuation errors is also at the point where it rubs me the wrong way, just a bit.I like the story as a whole It s action packed It s event driven It s exciting It makes the pages flow at a nice pace, and you re never really in any single moment too long, so even the boring parts are very temporary and you re quickly moving onto something new I don t It was a mixed bag of nuts for me I liked some parts of it, and disliked other parts. The writing doesn t blow me away, at all The amount of punctuation errors is also at the point where it rubs me the wrong way, just a bit.I like the story as a whole It s action packed It s event driven It s exciting It makes the pages flow at a nice pace, and you re never really in any single moment too long, so even the boring parts are very temporary and you re quickly moving onto something new I don t really like the nitty gritty of the plot itself Sometimes the characters do things that seem absolutely bat shit stupid, and you have that feeling that it s only so the story can progress in a specific direction I mean, Kate and her team are just about the most lousy bunch of amateur bodyguards I ve ever known They wouldn t be able to keep their own shadow close even if they tried And yeah, I know, Abby is supposed to be this little mischievous minx that s always up to no good. But still, God they re crap There s lots of spanking And the story does have a theme of D s running through it It doesn t get into BDSM with whips and collars and mistresses and all that It sthe vanilla D s with corporal spanking, and it s great It has a way of making each scene culminate in something tangible, sexy, and romantic that the characters bond over It works. So yeah, it s a mixed bag of nuts If the writing was a tad better, and the plot didn t hinge so much on the bodyguards being outsmarted by a mischievous little girl, but rather the bad guy being somewhat clever, then it would be a solid 4maybe even 5.But I ll go with 3 But it s a great read none the less if you like the stuff the book does well if only because it s so action packed and fast paced It sort of differentiates itself from the many slow paced romance books where the characters just cuddle around for 300 pages doing nothing Stuff actually happens here

A very weird, yet interesting kind of romance story with interesting characters There were a few technical mistakes that the author editor s missed throughout There weren t too many, but there were a couple that jumped out to me Specifically grammar mistakes and misspelled words I am beginning to like this authors style of interweaving spanking and discipline a part of BDSM that some, surprisingly, forget about being considered a part of BDSM when it s right there in the first D with a A very weird, yet interesting kind of romance story with interesting characters There were a few technical mistakes that the author editor s missed throughout There weren t too many, but there were a couple that jumped out to me Specifically grammar mistakes and misspelled words I am beginning to like this authors style of interweaving spanking and discipline a part of BDSM that some, surprisingly, forget about being considered a part of BDSM when it s right there in the first D with a main theme of romance stories and characters

Would have been better if It didn t have all of the spanking in it The Bodyguard spanked the Girl she was assigned to protect every time she cussed or for being out of line So pretty much all the time It took away from the story line Story would have worked better with less
