Every now and then I come across a book that is incredibly special, a book that has that indescribable sparkle and shine that gives you the warm fuzzies inside, where the writing, the world and the characters blow your mind away I know then that this is one very special author For me that was Chase the Dark, one of my favourite books of last year I have been lucky enough to receive Yield the Night as an ARC, and just let me tell you that each book gets better and better Holy Moly, I want to Every now and then I come across a book that is incredibly special, a book that has that indescribable sparkle and shine that gives you the warm fuzzies inside, where the writing, the world and the characters blow your mind away I know then that this is one very special author For me that was Chase the Dark, one of my favourite books of last year I have been lucky enough to receive Yield the Night as an ARC, and just let me tell you that each book gets better and better Holy Moly, I want to stand on a rooftop and yell how bloody brilliant this book was I m not sure I m very good at doing justice as to why this book was so good but I ll try Firstly Piper, I love her to bits, I can see her so clearly in my head, how she looks, behaves and comes across to the world at large I just want to be her friend Piper grew a lot, and I mean a LOT in this book and changed in ways beyond her imagination, but she stayed true to herself and just when you thought, ok, how many times can a girl get rescued and be taken down kicking and screaming, she kicked some awesome ass She learns a lot about herself, both physically and emotionally and she is not afraid to learn from her mistakes and move forwards I felt myself laughing, despairing and crying along with her I felt this was a very emotional book and it touched me on a deep level.I cannot forget Ash either, he is every bit a hero, ok maybe a bit twisted and dark the best kind really but he is there for Piper in every way possible and he stole my attention and my heart every second of page time Lyre too we are learning is not the shallow incubus character that we thought he was and he kicks some major ass He also gives some of the best laughs Seiya is a character that makes Annette Marie stand out as an author, how can I want to hug and kill a character all at the same time There is some major conflict here that I can t wait to seeof The supporting cast too are amazing and as we see them all through Piper s eyes I changed my times so many times about them all There is nothing predictable here.To be honest not a huge amount happens in terms of events in this book but SOOO much happens So much is said with so little, the true art of a story unfolding before your eyes We have incidents with the Gaians and the Ra, both pushing the story along in ways I had not foreseen I would not want to be in Piper s head trying to figure it all out There is a true sense here of no real bad guys but many shades of grey and an understanding for everyone s actions I can t wait to find out what happens next.So many scenes stand out in my mind and I will be going back and re reading Yield the Night very very soon I adored this book, can you tell Just go read the whole series

3.5 Stars I can t help but look back to the first book of this series, Chase the Dark, it is still, by far, my most favourite amongst all three Although, the second book, Bind the Soul, was also quite outstanding Both has certainly set the bar high, for me anyways So, I come reading this sequel with high expectations And, l must say, I was definitely entertained though left a bit confused The story picks up two months later We learned that Piper did indeed attend the boarding school 3.5 Stars I can t help but look back to the first book of this series, Chase the Dark, it is still, by far, my most favourite amongst all three Although, the second book, Bind the Soul, was also quite outstanding Both has certainly set the bar high, for me anyways So, I come reading this sequel with high expectations And, l must say, I was definitely entertained though left a bit confused The story picks up two months later We learned that Piper did indeed attend the boarding school And, let s just say, the school couldn t send Piper home fast enough And home for Piper is, of course, the Consulate.A day before her 18th birthday, Piper couldn t beexcited to go home, with hopes that her father and uncle would have a welcome home birthday surprise party waiting for her D Instead, she found, not only was her uncle and father not there to welcome her, but not long after she barely just settled in, a group of crazy radicals started burning her home to the ground And, once again, she found herself abducted It was easy to figure out that the Gaians are the crazy radicals they also weren t that convincing on what they are doing so far And this is just the start of the many the left me baffled Anyway, I was reallyexcited in reading Piper, Lyre and Ash s reunion Besides, who else was going to save Piper again, right So yeah and yay Lyre came in funny and Ash came in strong and scary Loved it I was disappointed with Piper s reaction in seeing Ash daemon s form I really thought she was over that already But, I get how that would play out on the later part of the story. This sequel isabout Piper coming into her magic which also comes with a price, which was, that it could also kill her I loved how Ms Annette Marie gave Piper a quite amusing, likeable and lively voice Thus, giving her character such pleasant personality As for Ash, still my hero He is hot and all, but he hardly said much here though Lyre was his usual adorable, funny, flirty self Never fails to make me laugh. It is action packed, fast paced, with great world building, and lots of humour And, like the previous book before this, there is this huge, edge of your seat, climatic fight scene which was intense and just awesome, written with stunning details. As for the romance Well, there were sweet, hot kisses shared here and there that will leave you wantingI was really hoping, by this time, they would graduate from that and have somethingthan those chased kisses The story ended leaving so many questions and issues unresolved In fact, it does feel like they kept on piling up To mention one would lead to spoilers, so I ll just leave it at that A huge Thank You to Ms Annette Marie for the advance copy in exchange of an honest review 3
