    Kathryn Le Veue never ceases to amaze me How she unfailingly comes up with such outstanding stories is a mystery to me But I am always left with a big smile on my face with each and every book she writes Oh the ride along the way is undoubtedly going to be filled with angst intense emotion intrigue sometimes tears and laughter incredible battle scenes camaraderie family and loyalty just to name a few But the end result is always the same I always say geez that was SO good I was first introduced to the Unholy Trinity in Ms Le Veue's Lord of Winter I remember thinking at the time that she just had to write individual books about the three intriguing lethal loners who worked so well as a team By the Unholy Hand is Sir Maxton of Loxbeare's book It is an off the charts winner and a fabulous start to this new series There are a lot of puzzle pieces to this tale with two fabulous unusual characters taking the lead Just fabulousThe other Executioner Knights are Kress de Rhydian and Archilles de Dere To say I cannot wait for their stories would be an understatement Sigh ;

    Prepare to enter a world of medieval intrigue with a fearless knight part of a group named the The Unholy Trinity The Executioner Knights who after the Crusades became mercenaries That is exactly what they are and the hero Sir Maxton of Loxbeare is the leader and possibly the most ruthless Sent on a mission to find the men who seek to assassinate the new King John of England he will stop at nothing That is until he comes upon Lady Andressa who has been living in a convent sent there by her aunt who is stealing her inheritance She may be the key to to helping him find the men he is looking for and she finds herself greatly attracted to him A man with no softness or can he have strong feelings for Andie?Filled with suspense danger and strong emotions that you can feel through the characters once you start this story you will not be able to stop Kathryn LeVeue is a master at creating a story that is filled with strong heroes and heroines of legendary proportions that take you through history as never beforeA remarkable debut of the Executioner Knights series Cannot wait for the next

    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💋Maxton and Andressa what a team and a great start to what looks to be a brilliant seriesThese two are awesome He’s tougher than most a man who knows no fear unless Andie is hurt or in trouble he has seen and done it all is not afraid to get in there and get the job done and is in his element when getting Bric McRohans back up She is meek mild and helpful a lovely sweet young lady But when she is called to defend and protect her King she is a veritable whirlwind and doesn’t mind getting imaginative with anything to hand to protect herself Great book and excellent story Loved the meeting of all the great minds from LeVeue World especially Max and Bric so good

    Sir Maxton of Loxbeare is summoned by William Marshall of a job to stop the killing of King John from the Pope which could throw all of England into turmoil; Maxton and his three other friends known as the Executioner knights takes the job Maxton and his friends must find out who wants John dead The job definitely isn’t easy and could cost Maxton everything including his life but he is willing to try As Maxton is trying to figure out the mystery he meets the hungry starving pledge Lady Andressa du Bose Maxton feels drawn to Andressa and decides to help her In doing so Maxton and Andressa form a sort of friendship and Andressa for some reason comes to trust Maxton As Maxton gets to know Andressa he finds where she stays St Blitha holds some very strange secrets women also disappear and cruel women are nuns Maxton thinks there has to be a connection to the starving pledges the disappearing women the nuns the Pope and the plot to kill John isn’t there or is Maxton willing to put his reputation on the line by accusing the wrong people?What a truly amazing book this is The story is crammed full of mystery secrets spies and a sweet romance thrown in The story is so intricate and wonderful; filled with uite a bit of action never slowing down keeping one glued until the very last page Sure the story did start off slow but really built up into a pleasing climax that would satisfy anyone Ms Kathryn Le Veue just knows how to tell a fantastic tale weaving fictional and non fictional characters in a way that is pure genius Even some previous characters from other books made an appearance heightening the story but never taking center stage Maxton the uiet brooding deadly intelligent knight is stealthy and not afraid of killing anyone that will get in his way Maxton also has a hidden sweet compassionate side that is hard to resist no wonder Andressa fell for him He’s really a good guy even with his horrid reputation but there is a redeeming uality about him that just because he is supposed to be bad he isn’t really Andressa the starving witty heroine is also great too Sure at first she isn’t portrayed in the best light but when her circumstances come to light then she becomes a winning fighting woman that still manages to see the good in Maxton This book definitely has staying power that waiting for the other stories of the executioner knights will be well worth the wait

    By The Unholy HandBy Kathryn LeVeue ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐It's 1200 AD and in the time following King Richard's The Lionheart's death John has taken the throne and a new plot against the King has come to light It's rud that the Pope himself is behind it This plot is so dark and so horrible that William Marshal needs men who specialize in these sort of things Men that will do whatever it takes to protect a king that they all hate yet a king that England so desperately needs These men are assassins who will kill assassin's without thought These men are known as The Unholy Trinity the Executioner KnightsSir Maxton of Loxbeare is the leader of this unholy band of cutthroats He is a big man with dark hair and dark eyes He was fostered in the finest houses but there is something unsettling about him He kills easy without remorse and he never uestions an order no matter how disgusting or unsavory it may be William Marshall gives the job of finding the papal assassins to Maxton and his comrades but this soon becomes a high stakes game of chess with the death of the king being the checkmateLady Andressa du Bose and a great heiress who was cheated out of her inheritance by her Aunt who sent her to the convent she now lives in Now she is reduced to wearing second hand old clothes and is left wandering the streets looking for food and being a lowly laundress She has spent many bitter and unhappy years serving the nuns of St Biltha One day while looking for food she has a chance meeting with Maxton and he introduces her to a world she wants to be a part of A world that she should belong to Now unknowingly she has given Maxton a lead on something he very much wants and that is a clue to who the assassins really are Every sign points to papal operatives Maxton has a job to do and he will use anyone he can to complete it including the lovely pledge who is slowly embedding herself in his heartThis is a game of cat and mouse where all is not what it seams and even those that are devout can sometimes hold horrible secrets It soon becomes clear to Maxton he must make a choice Give in to his feelings for Andressa or save a king and with that England's sovereigntyKathryn LeVeue gives us a non stop action novel that will have you reading well into the night You will find Assassins hunting assassins love honor betrayal bravery and many attributes in this amazing novel Andressa and Maxton has the perfect amount of attraction This was a wonderful book and I really enjoyed reading it I can see why they call Ms LeVeue the ueen of medieval becuase this lady truly knows her way around a novel

  7. Eileen Dandashi Eileen Dandashi says:

    The story is set in dark tones much like the evil that is perpetrated against King John by the Pope of Rome What makes it unfathomable is not the Pope with his hatred against the King who seeks to change the political scape but the means by which it will be done That my good reader is what will eat at your craw will repulse you sicken you and fascinate you The Lateran Palace in Rome housed three Knights in lavish style after they returned from the Crusades These men were renowned killers They didn’t uestion the means of execution—very Machiavellian in their views When the Pope commanded them to kill their own king of England for his own political agenda they refused From lavish treatment to imprisonment until someone as powerful as the Pope needed their servicesSir Maxton the leader of the trio somewhere between the dungeon and his new job for William Marshal had changed Those closest to him see it Can a man who has killed for years without remorse change? A hapless yet a beautiful and kind woman Andressa resides within the walls of St Blitha She comes from wealthy titled parents both have died leaving her to a guardian aunt who has little scruples in ridding her simply by housing her in St Blitha the local convent The Mother Abbess has little scruples using the money received monthly for Andressa’s expense to further her own comfort The nuns are forced to leave the nunnery and steal food Only those ‘special assistants’ of Mother Abbess have privilegesBut reader there is much divulged as the story unfolds Sir Maxton comes upon Andressa while she is out stealing for food There is some attraction but he is above all curious as to why a nun is stealing food Most events in life aren’t a coincidence as serendipity surely abounds You will be riveted to this compelling story much like rubbernecking in traffic when there is a gruesome accident You won’t no you can’t turn away

    5 Stars What a wonderful darker medieval romance Here we have a tale of various assassins The church plays an enormous roll from start to finish but between what is going on is a love that is blossoming around cruel dealings dangers lots of intrigue and dark wickednessSir Maxon of Loxbeare is an executioner knight who has been released from captivity and is now going to repay a debt for his release He literally was run into by a poor urchin but when he looks closer he clearly realizes it is a woman who is a postulate from the local Abbey She intrigues him because of her circumstances at present As Max finds out there is so much to her situation that has been truly unfair to the young lady in uestion He is on a mission currently but this postulate is now to become one of his personal missions as wellLady Andressa de Bose has had family tragedy dictate her fate and current circumstance because now she has only endured severe personal hardship for uite some time Living in an Abbey where currently some there are starving some are cruelly abused and some simply disappear She has been doing everything she can to survive She finds herself in a circumstance in the middle of a village where she runs into a huge man who is intimidating Hopefully he can understand her explanation if not she is doomedI can highly recommend this story As I mentioned before this tale is somewhat dark but it makes for a different intriguing and wonderful romance while introducing us to a new trio of executioner knights Now I look forward to the next stories in this series of the Unholy Trinity This author never disappoints She continues to create magnificent stories with intriguing plots that entertain me the reader and fulfills my time with enjoyment

    Sir Maxton of Loxbeare is one of England's most skilled Knights Since the end of the Crusades he and his friends have been mercenaries sometimes taking jobs nobody else could do However there is a line he will not cross Lady Andressa du Bose has been sent to a convent by her Aunt so the woman can use her inheritance The convent has an evil Mother Superior Her nuns live in constant fear and hunger This is a fantastic book absolutely filled with political intrigue danger and great characters Our hero is not a good man but he seems to be growing a conscience Our terrified heroine seems timid but has got nerves of steel I won't say too much about the plot because I don't want to spoil it for you Just know that before you start reading you should make sure you lock everybody out and make yourself comfortable because you will NOT be able to put it down I was awake until 130am to finish it I loved every page and can't wait to read the next in the series
