Although this version is out of date the information is largely still applicable The presentation of information is short and choppy very briefly touching on a large number of topics It does a decent job of introducing some useful Photoshop tools somewhat better than other books I've seen The book does touch on some areas that I was actually specifically looking for information on but too briefly so that I didn't find the answers I was seeking I did learn one or two things new things or gleaned a bit of clarification so the read wasn't a waste of my time I should point out that contrary to the title this isn't really a book for someone who isn't already familiar with photography and digital image manipulation software It tries but I think it would be over many a true beginner's head

A good general introduction to digital photography similar in content to one of the author's other books The Digital Photographer's Handbook This one covers much of the same topics around 80 over the course of around 200 pages So each topic is dealt with fairly swiftly which some might find a bit challenging if they're looking for in depth explanations But for the size I think it's a pretty good book And it's intended as an introduction hence the title and not the ultimate book on the matter

Lately I have read a few digital photography books as I'm trying to hone my amateur skills This by far is the best book I have come across to date There is information that covers every aspect of digital photography including editing different cameras different lenses and This book is a must have for any photography enthusiast

This was somewhat helpful when I made my switch to digital but there is a lot of good stuff out there now If you are a complete photo beginner this is still a good option
