I read Confessions of a Sex Kitten published in 1993 immediately after reading Eartha Kitt's 1976 autobiography Alone With Me and was disappointed to find that Confessions of a Sex Kitten is actually a poorly reconstructed slightly expanded version of her autobiography Alone With Me Only a brief note on the Front Matters page warns the reader that much of this book was previously publishedSome new content was appended to several of the recycled chapters which cover about 45 years of Ms Kitt's life and only a few new chapters were added which weakly cover the next nearly 20 years of Ms Kitt's personal and professional life Sadly some the new content added to the previously published chapters do not agree with the accounts of the same incidents people and relationships from the 1976 autobiography The narrative rambles uite a bit and left me thinking that some trains of thought were just abandoned without arriving to the stationEartha Kitt was a fascinating personality and exciting performer who may remain an enigma if this book stands as part of her legacy

  4. Teri Teri says:

This book lacks direction It's pretty much an anthology of random musings While interesting I wonder what her overall goal was Eartha Kitt tells her life little by little can't you tell from the infinite amount of small chapters but I wondered if she even made sense of it all for most of the book

  5. Tamara Tamara says:

I 3 Eartha Kitt but I couldn't get through this book It just rambles on like free association Blah blah blah blah

  6. Ange Ange says:

A beautiful memoir of pain and perseverance It is written in her voice She covers many topics related to her and to others including the treatment of people of color and indigenous peoples Wonderful read and I look forward to reading of her works The first 34 of the book is her telling her career story the last uarter delves into other topics I don’t have a great attention span and started to get bored of all of the mentions of her travels to be in different shows but I think that is just me not the book

  7. Tammy Tammy says:

What a fascinating life “I must use the manure that has been thrown on me to fertilize myself and grow from seed again” The book does bounce around and maybe isn’t written the best get past that and delve into this amazing woman
