Dan s just out of prison after serving eight years for armed robbery and attempted murder His only saving grace was he didn t pull the trigger but he certainly didn t learn anything from his time in prison He meets Trey, a mechanic, at his first AA meeting and is instantly taken with the self assured handsome man Dan may resent the meetings as he s not an alcoholic, but he s happy to meet a sexy guy who may offerthan just friendship from the start. This theme of Dan not being responsible Dan s just out of prison after serving eight years for armed robbery and attempted murder His only saving grace was he didn t pull the trigger but he certainly didn t learn anything from his time in prison He meets Trey, a mechanic, at his first AA meeting and is instantly taken with the self assured handsome man Dan may resent the meetings as he s not an alcoholic, but he s happy to meet a sexy guy who may offerthan just friendship from the start. This theme of Dan not being responsible is repeated often as he s framed for a crime a mere three days after his release from prison As usual Dan flees from the police once again, this time taking Trey with him as the sex between the two is simply too good to leave behind While the premise is slightly far fetched, the real problems came within the execution The story arc suffered from corny dialogue and multiple coincidences to further the action The complicated and sophisticated setup of the crime for which Dan was framed is completely at odds with the description of the actual perpetrator and the resolution is partly predictable and partly unbelievable. The characterization within the story was unfortunately mediocre at best with clich d characters and hollow emotions Dan is certainly humanized with his struggle to fit back into society and his family, yet for the majority of the story seems to drift without focus or purpose He moves from nervous, insecure and hesitant to strong and confident with a swagger simply from sex with Trey However, this newfound confidence doesn t stop Dan from the knee jerk reaction of running from the police and discovering the truth on his own While this is somewhat understandable, Dan takes very few actions to find the truth and instead focuses on the sex with Trey.Trey for his part is largely underdeveloped He falls in love with Dan after a marathon sex session and follows the ex con as they run from the police without much thought about where they re going to go or how they re going to avoid a large manhunt His motivations and feelings come across as hollow and empty without real thought or emotion behind the words There is little to explain why Trey fell in love with Dan other than Trey likes rough sex and Dan is willing to provide The secondary characters of Dan s family were largely forgettable stereotypes that added nothing to the story sadly.Of course all ends well with a lot of implausible action and heroic rescue scenes Unfortunately on top of the clumsy writing and awkward sex scenes that riddled the story made this ultimately not enjoyable to read It is short, which made it easier to get through and fans of the author s writing may enjoy this story, as it s typical of the writing and plot of her offerings However, I ultimately can t recommend this to most readers

Wanted Dead or Alive is the first in the Slippery When Wet series I actually read first the second book, didn t realize it was a series and when I read the third I made the connection The series follows the lives of four former con mate, Dan, Logan, Damien and Snake when they were in prison, they helped another man, Joe, and this put them on the wrong side of another prisoner, Felix, who has the right connection to make their life very difficult when they will finally go out Another thing th Wanted Dead or Alive is the first in the Slippery When Wet series I actually read first the second book, didn t realize it was a series and when I read the third I made the connection The series follows the lives of four former con mate, Dan, Logan, Damien and Snake when they were in prison, they helped another man, Joe, and this put them on the wrong side of another prisoner, Felix, who has the right connection to make their life very difficult when they will finally go out Another thing that links them is that they are all petty criminal at least I believe, I haven t yet read Snake s story and that they are all gay and they were gay even before going into jail.Of all the three life stories, that of Dan is probably theeasy and also sad He was in the wrong place at the wrong moment with the wrong friend His friend almost killed a man, and Dan was young and stupid enough to try to run away instead of facing the law And he did 8 years of jail for that During the time he even befriended the man who almost was killed, and when he went out, he still had a sister who was willing to help him And after only two days he even finds a boyfriend, Trey life seems good, isn t it But his old enemy doesn t forget, and Dan is framed for a crime he hasn t committed And again he runs away, but this time realizes soon enough that running away is not the solution to his problem.I have the feeling that Dan is real young, I don t know exactly how many years he has, he did 8 years in prison, so he has to be at least 26 years old if not , but probably he still thinks like a scared teenager And even if Trey is really a wonderful man, caring and gentle, I think he is not an imposing figure In a way it s better like that, Dan has always proved to not be keen of the male role figure, and in fact, with Trey, it s Dan who takes the lead, even if the first move was made by Trey All in all I think that this time Dan was lucky, he met a man who is average enough, and faulty enough, to be at his same level, and so Dan is willing to listen and take in account his advice It s interesting, Trey is the perfect man for Dan since he is not a perfect man.Oh, I almost forgot I found another point in common with all the stories all the men have a quite steamy shower alone but fantasizing of the man they have just met a coincidence or that Slippery When Wet in the title of the series means somethingthan the title of the LP collecting all the songs from with the books borrow the titles

Possibly the fastest case of instalove I ve ever read The characters were just too quick to declare never ending feelings for me so not my cup of tea If you like that type of thing, the rest of the story is not bad.
