The story of how ground hog day began in Scotland It was suggested by Andrew McGroundhog s shadow, who convinced Andrew to hibernate through the winter, and come out during the Spring or suffer a bonk on the nose from him.

Andrew McGroundhog and His Shadow is the fictional, somewhat silly account of the founding of Groundhog Day Andrew McGroundhog has no idea that he has been so very uncaring and unkind towards his shadow until the day his shadow has finally had enough Andrew and his shadow must make an interesting arrangement to solve their problem The animal characters in this book are absolutely charming and completely hilarious This is one of those books that your child will want to read over and over agai Andrew McGroundhog and His Shadow is the fictional, somewhat silly account of the founding of Groundhog Day Andrew McGroundhog has no idea that he has been so very uncaring and unkind towards his shadow until the day his shadow has finally had enough Andrew and his shadow must make an interesting arrangement to solve their problem The animal characters in this book are absolutely charming and completely hilarious This is one of those books that your child will want to read over and over again and for once you won t mind Truly, people of all ages will be thoroughly entertained by the clever story while learning a little about traditional Scottish traditions and vocabulary

This was a somewhat odd story about how the groundhog predicts winter by seeing his shadow It takes place in Scotland and one particular groundhog ends up getting in a fight with his shadow because his shadow gets cold during the winter It s a bit long.Illustrations are also a bit odd I ve never seen a groundhog look quite like the one in the book.

Much too text heavy for the preschool storytime I am planning And some of the text is a little tedious But overall it s an all right story that kids would love simply for the bonking on the nose part And it s humorous not only for the history of Groundhog s Day, but little jokes in the illustration and FABULOUS to read in a Scottish accent If only the young kids could enjoy that.
