MY REVIEW The Faith Dare is a challenge to live your life to the fullest within God's design for you This is than a motivating book it's a 30 day Bible study tooBeginning with a short introduction and explanation on what it means to live life with faith you embark on a 30 day journey of growing in your relationship with Jesus Christ and challenging yourself to take the next step This month long study is broken into 3 sections Live Up Live In and Live OutI enjoyed Debbie's style and presentation of the material It's simple and user friendly for both small group or individual use The daily studies pack a powerful message to encourage and convict but are still easy to do no matter what your schedule is The dares are not scary or overwhelming as the name makes it sound but are rather simple steps for putting into action what you learned Don't get me wrong some of the dares may stretch you depending on your personality and testimony but it's not a huge mountain to climb each day of the studyThere were parts of this book where I didn't always see eye to eye with the author but overall it is a good study to work through personally or with a group of friendsBOOK OVERVIEWDebbie Alsdorf wants women to experience the radically transforming difference that 30 days can make in their lives It’s what she calls the Faith Dare in which she challenges women to develop the habit of focusing on God and living out their faith in every situation for 30 days Alsdorf a popular author speaker and ministry leader euips women to undertake this 30 day challenge in her new book The Faith Dare To cultivate a lifestyle of daily passionate faith she helps readers learn day by day to develop habits that will help them connect intimately to God Every day readers will be challenged to go deeper Examples of the daily dares includeo Dare to live in the miracle of who you areo Dare to believe in God’s power in all circumstanceso Dare to surrender to the process of changeo Dare to speak praise sing praise and live with confidence in GodReaders will also learn practical ways of applying God’s Word to their own lives whether it’s in their personal relationship with God learning to surrender to self or living out God’s love to others With a personalized study guide including daily readings affirmations and challenges Alsdorf’s 30 day challenge helps readers learn to live out their faith like never before and discover the incredible difference 30 days can makeAUTHOR BIODebbie Alsdorf is the author of Deeper and A Different Kind of Wild She is founder of the popular Design4Living Conferences and speaks with Hearts at Home She is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and is director of women's ministries at Cornerstone Fellowship where her Bible study is attended by hundreds of women every week Alsdorf lives in California This review copy was provided courtesy of Revell and is available July 2010 at your favorite bookseller from Revell a division of Baker Publishing Group The opinions expressed our my own

Lay out The Faith Dare is divided into 4 parts The first includes two short chapters about faith in general The latter three feature 10 chapters each one chapter per day in the following categories “Live Up In Relationship to God” “Live in In Surrender of Self” and “Live Out In Relationship to Others”Each day begins with a title heading and applicable bible verse After a short narrative or story there are the following sections “Today’s PraisePrayer” – scripture “Today’s Truth” – scripture followed by an explanationapplication “Today’s Dare” – uestions to ponder and reflect on “Journal” – a place where you can write out what you are learning or hearing from God “Today’s Prayer” a prayer to read or guide you through your own prayer and finally “Today I Believe” – a short affirming belief statement to meditate on throughout the dayIt may sound complicated but each chapter is only 5 8 pages long including scripture and lines included for writing in and the sections break it up nicelyReviewI had received this book as a gift and it sat on my bookshelf for a while as I was busy finishing up some other books Finally I picked it up one day when my faith was feeling dry and I wanted to draw near to God again I’ve been a believer since I was little but sometimes after a desert detour in my spiritual walk I find it helpful to go back to the basics and have some help along the way This book did not disappoint It was exactly what I needed to remember who we are in Christ what treasures we have in Him and how to live out the tremendous calling He gives It goes through basic tenets of Christian living in a very refreshing way Debbie’s writing is authentic and encouraging As a busy mom the short chapters were a uick read and when I missed a day I could easily continue where I left off This book was an enjoyable and effortless read but not because its theology is watered down Each chapter packs a punch of truth conviction and challenge You could go one of two ways with this book read it uickly for some encouragement or take your time to study and meditate upon each topic Either way it’s an excellent readRecommended For This book would be excellent for a new believer or for a mature believer who either needs a bit of a reboot or is looking for an encouraging daily devotionalOverallI’m not sure that I would read it again but that isn’t a bad thing as very few books are worth referencing repeatedly It served its purpose well it refreshed my passion for God and affirmed my position in Christ I would definitely buy it for a friend 45 starsI was not given this book to review I am not being paid for this reviewFavourite uotes“Dare to walk in the truth of being appointed by God in your everyday average ordinary life ““Scripture is clear my life is not my own Scripture is also encouraging God’s life in me brings out the beauty of his creation He takes broken hearts and heals them messy lives and mends them tears and dries them He dresses me in something new and beautiful The clothing is from within but its beauty is seen withoutIt’s always been his plan to renew me revive me restore me and give me courage to uit living life in my own flimsy fleeting beauty and to live in him and the beauty of his holinessSee reviews at wwwthereadingmamablogwordpresscom

I would like to extend a heartfelt 1CThank you 1D to Debbie Alsdorf and her publisher for sending me a copy of The Faith Dare to review for them I am truly grateful for this generosity I really appreciate the time effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to meDebbie Alsdorf 19s book 1CThe Faith Dare 30 Days to Live Your Life to the Fullest 1D found me at the perfect time I started reading this beautiful devotional when I found a lump in my breast and began the process of having it diagnosed The daily readings encouragement and challenges bolstered my faith and reminded me that God is not frivolous 13 He is determinedly purposefulI read the daily verses aloud as an act of praise when I was unable to think straight I was encouraged by the supporting scripture and the author 19s commentary explaining the daily concept and its life application I even accepted a few of the 1Cdares 1D that were provided as a step of faith to apply that day 19s reading to my life The book also contains an area for journaling 13 usually where healing begins for me The prayers to recite were wonderful primers for my faulty prayer pump that got me really talking to God in many casesThis would be a great resource to use alone or with a group for accountability It is completely centered in the Word of God with great practical application Whether you 19re going through the best or worst of times this book will encourage you to build your faith
